I am working from home (for now) because my daycare is closed. My boss and everyone at my work thinks this virus is being blown out of proportion and being exaggerated. Nearly all employees have WFH capability. But, everyone is expected to be in the office, with only special considerations made. 

It is only a matter of time before it will not be allowed for me, probably sooner than later. She has already suggested I switch to her daycare (that is still open). It is a lot more per week and pretty far from home (for a toddler to commute 2x a day). Also, not the type of facility I would choose. 

Ugh. 

Bright side, I have 2 places courting me to come work for them. I will be ok to tell them to shove it, if needed. 

Oh Simpleton I feel you, I work on a base and most people are working from home at this point.  But I support customers so we can't work from home.  It's frustrating especially when my boss and project lead don't agree and I'm like WTF guess I'll work until we are forced to stay home and use leave.

someone in our office building had a vendor on site last week that has since tested positive.  small meeting in a room on a different floor.. but there are shared areas where these people would have come into the office... escalator or elevator touching... also potentially infecting the meeting participants who then had access to the whole building for another week.  I know it's unlikely that a lot of people were exposed.. not sure who thought it would be a genius idea to bring in a vendor that likely travels widely..even if it is only domestically.. lots of chances for contact in airports etc... ugh

we now are all to work remotely if at all possible.

shocking!  not.  there is no backup plan for my job even though my people work 24/7.  when i'm out they just let my work pile up with zero attempt to even try to help out.

we were told we would be alternating WFH.  most of tgwe rest of the employees are remote now

I work for a large company is run by a woman CEO and she is amazing. We are mandatory WFH until 4/1 at corporate and sales. We are taking it seriously, our plant's have strict rules no visitors , they have to take their temps before coming in. 

I feel for all of the people who are not as fortunate to work for companies that care and have common sense and who have prepared for something like this.

I have MS and will be staying put until this mess  is over. 

I work at a hospital, in the private ward.  All of our procedures are elective.  As all elective surgeries have been cancelled for the next 3 months, all private hospitals will become isolation wards.  All of the higher ups are working at home but that doesn't include the front line staff who are required to be in.  All medical, catering and cleaning staff will be required to come in and work.

Consider yourself lucky that you can keep earning your wage AND doing it from home.  None of us will lose our jobs or wages but some of the least paid citizens in countries around the world will be put at risk.  Medical, security, housekeeping, catering, pharmicists, food store employees.  What is now considered dangerous for most will be a requirement and necessity for others.
