I called it.....
If you look back in my blogs, I believe under my update blog, I mentioned how SD likes to have a "spotlight injury" every year around the holidays. I have been awaiting this "spotlight injury". I knew it was coming. Anyways, last week SD hurt her knee at cheer practice so she wasn't able to go to the final cheer performance out of town that BM had already spent over $500 on. I actually find that part comical b/c BM and SO are so oblivious to the fact that the girl gets injured for attention. SO said he knows she does it yet believes her every time. Funny how the same day SO is telling me that she has a torn meniscus in my fb timeline exactly a year ago a pic of SD in a hospital bed pops up...last year it was a "broken knee" yet they never saw a break in any xray or medical imaging (CAT Scan, MRI, etc). Anyways, BM and SD have determined this time it is a torn meniscus and SD might require surgery. I think BM and SD go with the worst case scenario the dr gives them every time. She has a MRI today to figure out how bad it is. Results should be interesting.
I know I probably sound like a real step monster not believing her but I've been watching her suck up the attention for injuries for almost 6 years. Last year I decided to keep a word document at work about her injuries (b/c BM goes off on us if she gets so much as a bruise at our house)...anyways....at least 1 injury or ailment a month for over a year now! Even my dad and SM are on to the "spotlight injury" game. We went to my niece's bday party Sat and they were there and once SO walked away my SM said to me, "really?!?! WTH?!?! I don't know how you deal with this, she obviously does it for attention and she is going to be a horrible teenager!" They seemed to pick up on the same coincidental timing of her injury....right before her final cheer performance and the holidays so she can walk around to everyone and brag about her injury and how "clumsy" she is.
Maybe if SO and BM ever made her miss out on stuff when she is "severly hurt" instead of treating her like royalty we wouldn't have so many incidents but NOPE! Instead she gets extra special treatment....like sitting in the front seat of the car when all of us are going places. Last year when I had to sit in the back seat so she had enough room for her injuried leg she had the biggest shit eating grin/smirk on her face ever. Right now SO can't drive so when he told her she could sit up front she said, "it's okay daddy I can fit in the back!" Ugh, it was really hard to bite my tongue and make a smart remark about how amazing it is she could fit in the back this time but not last year when it forced me into the back seat.
Woohooo! Let the holidays begin! We had Thanksgiving at SO's mom's yesterday and she ate up the attention for her "spotlight injury"....I swear it is disgusting to watch!

A lot of these skids
must read off the "how to be annoying and the center of attention" playbook. OSS, SD and YSS in my case all were attention hogs, faked injuries especially on their sports teams that the Gir signed them up for. When they didn't feel like playing anymore and wanted some attention, they would soccer flop. And of course the Gir had her Munchausen phase where YSS would come over and try to make a big deal over every scratch he had.
Amazing how biodads can just turn a blind eye to all of this rubbish!
Yeah, I think BM here has a
Yeah, I think BM here has a bit of the Munchausen phase in her also, she takes SD to the dr for EVERYTHING. The last time she flipped out on us claiming that she gets "severly injured" at our house so often! It has been like 2 times in 6 years at our place but whatever! BM flipped her lid and went on and on about how the dr might send children services out to our house b/c of ALL the injuries she has had there....um....well the dr should be sending children services to BMs house in that case b/c she takes SD in there for EVERYTHING. She wouldn't be so worried about children services if she didn't take her to the dr at least twice a month for some BS "injury"....
I am pretty irritated with SO about his blind eye to the rubbish. To me it is pretty damn evident what is up. I predicted this injury/timing over a month ago.....hmmmmmmm......
Oh and so NOW after all these years of cheer injuries the dr told BM that SD can't do these competitive sports/tumbling/cheer b/c it isn't good for her. Lets see how long it is before she recovers and signs her back up for some stupid sport again. SD told us on Sunday she is going to play softball....SO and I were like....um....you're going to get injured playing that as well. Plus really?!?! SD hates running. You have to run when you play softball. It's like SD googles sports to see what sport you get injured in most and picks it! If BM lets her play softball next she is a special kind of stupid and I won't have any sympathy for "injuries"...I already lost it all already!
Yes! Crazy has a little
Yes! Crazy has a little Muchausen's also, and is forever taking skids to Urgent care, etc. Had to rush them there after the world's smallest car "accident", which involved a car touching the bumper of their car, leading to no injuries whatsoever or even scuffing of paint...yet skids went to urgent care, and SS's back hurt "really bad". Luckily, my SO doesn't buy that crap. When we first heard of the accident, he thought it was a good rear-ending and expressed concern over SS's back, but after learning how it wasn't even an accident, that concern went away real fast and became more of an "oh crap, he's listening to that psycho's BS and acting like he's so hurt".
SD also does this thing where she has to tell us about any little scratch/bump/bruise/not even a bump or bruise, and regale us with the story, or if there is no story, just say how her "leg hurts", etc. Crazy has taken her to Urgent care for these things, but I simply say, mmm...and barely glance at it. I have also told her, look, if you are really hurt, tell us. But no one wants to hear about someone else's tiny little scratches or marks that you can't even see. That is a way to annoy people real fast. Suck it up. She knows she won't get sympathy unless it's an actual injury.
Simpleton, I would have a real hard time climbing in the back while your SD sits in the front soaking in the attention and status upgrade....
God help you sweetie. I hope
God help you sweetie. I hope I wasnt a blind bio mom. I didn't meet DH til my kids were 19& 21 so he didn't have to deal with so much teen drama...and you say she's not even a teen.
Nope, not even a teen yet,
Nope, not even a teen yet, she is 11! Nothing I can do because SO and BM basically cater to the madness and if I say anything I am just mean and picking on SD. I know damn well if my kid was constantly hurt he wouldn't be getting to do all the fun stuff. It is so sickening to me. She practically brags about her injuries.
Well isn't she cute
Well isn't she cute
She laughs about how she is
She laughs about how she is "clumsy" and "accident prone" and then pretends to be afraid of getting an MRI....like this is her first rodeo.....
I know her type but they are
I know her type but they are usually a little older. I guess with tv and social media 11 is the new teenager. SS11 is a piece of work. He actually does make us laugh some of the things he says. They seem so much older sometimes but their brains and thought processes are still immature
Oh no, she has been doing
Oh no, she has been doing this apparently even before me, she has been desperate for attention for a very long time. Yeah, TV and media don't help with this generation. I wish that I could say that SD made me laugh or was ever enjoyable but she really isn't. She also isn't very mature at all. She likes to be babied and coddled. SD also tries to be funny/cute but she is usually just copying something my son just did that we found amusing or doing something someone else just did b/c it got attention. She isn't very original.
Not the same thing I know,
Not the same thing I know, but whenever SS16 would go to a public bathroom, he would come out and say that a weird guy was in there looking at him funny and he was scared. EVER. SINGLE. TIME!!! The first few times, DH would of course quickly take him back in and tell SS16 to point him out, and then walk all over said place looking for him, which means all eyes were on him and he was hugged and cuddled.
After the first three time, DH caught on to him and told him that he will take him back to the bathroom and happily sell him to the man.
Even though we stopped paying attention to it, he still does it from time to time. Drives me crazy!
Wow, basically the same
Wow, basically the same concept! At least your DH was bright enough to catch onto it and not feed into it. He still does this sometimes at 16?!?! OMG, this is too much! I'm sure SD will carry on like this for the rest of her life!
WAIT, 16 wanted hugs and
WAIT, 16 wanted hugs and cuddles??
LOL, NO!!!! I was referring
LOL, NO!!!! I was referring to your comment. You said that your SS sometimes still does the bathroom creeper thing....at 16?!?!! I was questioning you!
I'm sure SD will still want to be coddled and the center of attention at 16 though. This will never improve unles SO and BM start calling her out on it and stop feeding into it. Won't happen.....
I don't know if he wants them
I don't know if he wants them now but he sure did back then. Now he just does it because he an asshole
Glad I'm not the only one who
Glad I'm not the only one who calls kids assholes!
I've called mine worse
In fact I felt so out of control (I went to counseling, the only options were to 1, kick Chef out (he was not going ANYWHERE) or 2. buy an RV that Chef could have visitations in (I couldn't afford that with almost ALL of CHef's wages going to CS and mine were being used to host the brats EVERY weekend) I resorted to mantras and let's say, "white magic." Salt, sage and prayers to the almighty entities above. Chef didn't know this. Was the ONLY thing that kept my sanity during those awful years between July '04 and September '09 when YSS PASed out for good.
Your SD should try out for
Your SD should try out for the boys' football team. That would provide excellent injury opportunities, plus the effort required to get onto a boys' team will focus all kinds of attention on her! Win-win.
LMAO, honestly I am surprised
LMAO, honestly I am surprised this hasn't happened yet! She did tell us on Sunday that she is going to play softball....really?!?! Um, pretty sure she just googled up what sport she can get hurt most in and went with it. She hates running and isn't coordinated. If BM actually signs her up for softball she is even more of a special kind of stupid than I thought!
Don't Laugh
SD now 20 did this. the Girhippo made SURE she was the ONLY female to sign up for the boy's football team all the way through 7th grade when the "tom boy" SD started getting crunched by more physically strong boys. Then the Girhippo had her made captain. The entire time SD was "playing" for them they had NO wins. It was all done for attention and although SD is HUGE for her age, she still couldn't compete with the boys and eventually quit. Then she played girls lacrosse for a while and always seemed to end up in, as she spelled it "Argent Care" for "breathing problems" (she was out of shape) and would take enough time to make idiotic selfies whilst in the exam room then post them on social media.
(((shudder)))
Ugh, I'm so surprised that SD
Ugh, I'm so surprised that SD hasn't decided to do this. Probably because some other little girls already beat her 2 it. There were 2 girls on their football team this year. That would be to much competition for the attention for SD. Oh my Girhippo is as crazy as my BM. When SD first started cheer they had to do running at a practice...SD hates running so she had her first ever asthma attack and Girhippo rushed her to the dr and now SD has "sports induced asthma" and I know it sounds horrible not believing someone has asthma but she has only had issues with it when with BM. At our house she could jump on the trampoline all day, ride her bike all day and no asthma problems, never any breathing issues. SD also eats like crap and is a bit overweight and IMO lazy. SD also used to be allergic to milk b/c it hurt her throat....but not strawberry milk or ice cream....really?!?!
Make the holidays more
Make the holidays more interesting...drink every time SDs injuries get brought up or you hear any manner of "poor SD"
LMAO, oh I'll be wasted by
LMAO, oh I'll be wasted by noon! I'm secretly hoping it is BMs year to have her. I haven't asked SO yet. I don't want to give him time to plan her spending time with us also if it isn't our year!
Mine would have to be every
Mine would have to be every time SD tries to bring attention to herself and every time MIL makes a negative comment
I'm glad I already got the
I'm glad I already got the MIL dinner out of the way. Mine's not that negative but she thinks SD is the greatest and it is pretty disgusting to listen to and watch her fawn all over her!
Your skid is going to be
Your skid is going to be bitterly disappointed IF she ever gets out in the real world.
Trust me, I know!!! Lord I
Trust me, I know!!! Lord I hope she makes it out into the real world and doesn't want to stay in mine!
Same here
My SS17 does the same thing abs has for years . Only he only gets “hurt” during games where they are losing miserably. That way he can claim they lost because he was hurt and couldn’t play in the full game. Even DH has caught onto the act. It took BM spending thousands on unnecessary testing to get her to open her eyes. Now they are more likely to tell him to suck it up and sit the bench than to baby him.
I can't even imagine how much
I can't even imagine how much BM here has spent on this BS! I wasn't exaggerating with the 1-2 month dr thing! Plus it is always extra tests/PT/etc. I'm sure the dr loves having her as a client. She keeps him in business!
lol.
lol.
Nothing this bad, but at some point in the weekend YSD would always get "a tummyache" and need to be coddled and cuddled.
Um. DH...she has a tummyache because she eats like crap and sits around watching YouTube. Give her some veggies and make her do some chores and she'll be fine.
Right?!?! I wouldn't be able
Right?!?! I wouldn't be able to resist asking her if she had to poop! My SD is also disgusting when it comes to eating habits. I'm sure she would snort sugar if she could get away with it!
I have a sister like this
I have a sister like this
It's an actual, medical illness
Your SD may actually need some councelling for it
I agree. BM has had her in
I agree. BM has had her in counseling for basically everything but this! This is what she should be focusing on....
What is the medical illness
What is the medical illness called? My OSD is middle-aged, and for years would get "sick", sometimes go to the emergency room, the day before DH and I would go on vacation.
It was not surprising when her own sister got cancer and OSD called DH crying "now YSD is going to get all the attention!" Sickening.
This post resonates!!!
About a year or 2 ago we got an urgent call that SD ~14 needed to go to the ER for a lump on her head. BM was out of town visiting friends and she was SO WORRIED about SD possibly having a concussion. SD couldn't remember falling or anything like that. BM issued a bunch of threats so off to the ER we go...
When we get there, the dr says he thinks it's a mosquito bite. I had to step out of the room b/c I couldn't keep a straight face. But just in case, they ordered an MRI. While DH was with SD getting the MRI, admissions came in for $$ paperwork. Lucky for dear ol SM, SD was already in the system so I made sure the bills went to BM.
We had to hear for WEEKS complaints about all the bills coming to BM and dealing w/ copays, office people, blah blah blah but it was so worth it. Maybe play the tape thru next time BM when it's your name on the bills!
WOW, okay that is actually
WOW, okay that is actually hilarious that it was a freaking mosquito bite! This sounds exactly like something BM would insist upon and then go off on us for not taking her right away and then be pissed about the bills!
This story reminded me of this past summer when SD went on vacation with BM for 2 weeks. BM left SD for 1 of the weeks during that time with her aunt so BM and her bf could go visit their friend. Anyways, apparently SD wasn't get the attention she craved while there so she is constantly texting SO. Then starts flipping out and sending SO pics about how she just lost a giant patch of hair and thinking something is wrong with her. SO tells her to send a pic where the patch of hair fell out from....and she basically sends a pick of the bottom of her neck. No noticeable patches of missing hair on her head. She sends him a picture of the large clump of hair she lost. I also had to hide my laughter because I am quite sure she just pulled a bunch of hair that was stuck in a brush out and made up that story.......ridiculous!
I'm comming in real late on
I'm comming in real late on this but anywho, I remember as a kid thinking getting a cast would be cool, the kids that did get a broken bone got alot of attention and got their cast signed, ok this is about to get freaky. In Early Dec of 1980 the head of Sunday School at church asked me to play Joseph for the Nativity play, I of course being the smart alec 11 y/o said I couldn't that I was going to be sick, funny guy right? Dec 18th I became paralyzed from the shoulders down, spent years learning to walk again, fighting for every morsel of normalcy. Lesson never fake or wish for an injury or sickness and when called to play Christ's Step Dad do it !
Is it bad that I wish that SD
Is it bad that I wish that SD would get a lesson out of this somehow. I don't want to wish paralysis though b/c man oh man would she be super excited to milk that out! I think she would like it!
I hope that you are okay now!
I know exactly how you feel.
I know exactly how you feel. Sd 15 is a nightmare with imagined illness such as most recetly strep throat without needing medical attentiopn. When SD has her period she wants to stay home from school and hurts too much to do anything but lie in bed being waited on hand and foot (thank God I don't live there). BM refuses to allow her to participate in sports because "they are too dangerous and sD might get hurt". And when there have been any major life and death situations with anyone else she all of a sudden has a crisis that she needs to be the center of attention for. She accused a boy recently of forcing himself on her but refused to goto the police and press charges, she claims because it wasn't a big deal. Truth is she enjoyed having him to do what he wanted (from what she told my daughter 18 about how good it felt and how much fun it was) and when she got an infection from it she started to claim rape. I mean she pulled this on the day I was rushed to the hospital because I had a life threatening infection that required me to be in the hospital for an extended stay. She also threw herself infront of a teachers car at her old high school got hit at approximately 5 MPH speed and claimed the teacher did it on purpose. But SD claimed she was too hurt to goto school for days and needed to be admitted to the hospital (Doctors said she was not injured in any way shape or form and sent her home to return to her normal routine). SD and BM the cries about how no one cares and SD is such a victim. Just gotta love it, it gets worse as they gett older. SD now threatens suicide anytime she does not get her own way, including if her father goes for a 5 minute walk when she doesn't want him to. Not my problem, not my obligation to help. It may seem cold but I flat out tell everyone that she cries to about how the doctors and facts indicate she is lying because they come to me asking why she got hurt. SD hates me because I can prove her lies are lies. TOO bad, she needs to get a grip and mov on
