Play stupid games, win stupid prizes
The title says it all. The games these people play, I swear.
I’m pretty sure I could go without a calendar, around this time of year, because I can practically predict what day, or at least week, it is by the ways the in-laws and DH behave. Even more so, behave towards me.
The in-laws with their fruitless attempts at fake niceties, even if they’re channeling it through my DH. I have MIL blocked *everywhere* and I know this just eats her alive. Knowing she cannot reach-out to me in any way/shape/form to get me to re-engage.
My DH and his extra, EXTRA loving attentiveness.
They’re all priming me for skid’s arrival, and it’s funny to watch. It’s just so utterly predictable anymore.
Skid will be here in approximately 2 weeks, or sooner, depending how fast BM wants to get her out of there, for at least 8 weeks. EIGHT FREAKING WEEKS. I have ZERO desire to entertain a rising 7th grader. She will be kept busy with several day camps - music camp, and baptist bible camp (my in-laws religious flavor), with my MIL, or FIL (who has a revoked license - LMAO) doing alllllll the running around where DH can’t.
I find myself wondering if skid is even going to want to come back next summer. I mean, baptist bible camp? Not seeing your tween girlfriends all summer? Being cooped up with a 71 year old grandpa whose idea of fun is going out to lunch at McDonalds and filling up his pockets with condiment packets?
I also find I’m reminding myself that THIS is what BM wanted. That she wanted me to stay away from skid. Well, there you go.

Being cooped up with a 71
This made me laugh. That's my age - I'm getting ready to go out to lunch (but not McDonald's). Maybe I should ask for extra condiments?
Too funny.
Too funny.
Goodness, no offense to the age. My FIL is not your average 71 year old - at all. He’s also a hoarder. Haha.

Hahaha, I’m only 50 but I take condiments all the time! Especially if they have mayo packets.
When we travel we usually stay at Airbnb’s and cook a few meals ourselves. I hate buying a jar of mayo for the maybe 4 sandwiches I’ll make during the week, so I hoarded the packets and bring them. It’s such a waste to buy a jar. The remainder usually gets thrown out.
DH also loves ketchup on just about everything, so I always bring tons of them on vacation. Even at the all inclusives, I’m pulling little hienz ketchups out of my bag for him at the buffet, lol.
Woman with a plan
Great travel tips! Very efficient & less wasteful.

I get the convenience, and I engage in it too. With my FIL I believe it to be a legit part of his mental health issues. Plus, he couldn’t be well prepared for a trip to save his life. He’s not the type to take condement packs on vacation, but instead is more likely to bring a ton home from wherever they stay or eat out at.

My exH had an Aunt who would bring home the little paper containers that they used to give you for ketchup. She had Thousands of them in baggies in one of her 3 fridges.
She was a supper organized hoarder. Her house smelled clean but it was stacked to the rafters with bundles of newspapers, styrofoam takeout containers, stacks and stacks of plastic sour cream, yougurt, cottage cheese containers, all washed out, sorted and held together with string. There were paths through the rooms. Again, all clean and sorted but she couldn’t physically throw them out. It was sad.

Holy hell eight weeks with skids no thanks! It's funny how they become predictable though. LOL

Makes me grateful that I no longer have SD during the summer anymore. She's 26 now, what joy
