Child behavior question

Is it weird that ss11 follows me around the house telling me every detail of his life...that his mother hasn't specifically forbidden? At times both skids do this. And I find it exhausting...and puzzling...and I don't know what to do with it....

SD9 does this to me sometimes. It used to freak me out. But then I realized she was also copying some of my mannerisms and behaviors. It's a compliment. They really look up to you and want to be around you and talk to you. I know it's weird sometimes... I still get a bit bugged occasionally. But I kind of got used to it. And started being less freaked by SD9 deciding my favorite color was hers, and she wanted to go on runs with me (sometimes I let her... I run a 6 minute mile... 9 year old legs cna't quite keep up yet. lol). Plus TBH I'd much rather she was trying to be like me than BM... So I kind of just adjusted.
Yes it's weird, but
Skids do it. And it may be a compliment, but I'd rather be left alone.
I can't tell you how many times I've asked DH to deal with a clinger child.

I'm with you nengooseus, my SD13 is the most clingy child and although I know it's a compliment that she loves me and wants to be around me I find her so annoying and draining I just wish she would go away most of the time!
I try to find a balance ie by spending some time with her (forcing myself to actually as I never enjoy her company) and then also setting boundaries by telling her that I need space sometimes, especially when tired, and she needs to respect that and leave me alone.
Luckily DH is very good with her and takes her off my hands mostly but it's still draining having a clingy child in the house and I'm always glad when she goes back to BM.
SS11 on the other hand is a delight, completely independent and can amuse himself and is also fun to hang with too so at least I didn't get two clingy skids I guess!
Maybe their mother grills
Maybe their mother grills them for every detail of their lives with you, so they assume you want to know all the details of their life away from you. That would drive me nuts!

My SD12 does this. It drives me nuts!!! She will actually come in when I am watching TV and expect me to keep pausing. After a while, I get annoyed and give her something to do
She does it when I am on the phone, which is the one time I actually get firm with her. The last time, I said S12 I am on the phone. You are being rude. I don't interrupt your calls from your mom so respect my phone time.

My SD12 did this today. I get home at 4:45 (I had text her that I'd be home about 4:30) and she came out of her room with our dogs to say hi. She mentions that I am home "about 15 minutes after you said" and I told her that's because I have a JOB and had to stop by the store.
I never ask her about her day because it's usually "ok" or "fine". She tells me (without provocation) that she is dreading tomorrow because the 5th graders are shadowing them all day to adjust to middle school. Or something like that. We small talked and she shut herself in her room shortly after.
Either she genuinely wanted to talk to me or expected me to care (or grill her about her day like BM and DH do). Don't get me wrong. I care, but today was odd. I worked evenings all this week until today so I'd like to think she just wanted to talk.
Thanks to all
Thanks everyone! I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
I think I have a better handle on it, now. Potential compliment is a weird idea, but I'll let the idea flavor my perception -- until I have reason not to!
