I really don't get stepkids
Last year, FDH and BM were in a huge custody battle over SS12. He said all sorts of shitty things about us. It was all bullshit of course, the usual BM accusations of emotional abuse, etc. Nothing changed.
This year, SS12 now says he wants to live with us full time. WTF WTF WTF????!!!
His reasons? Almost the same EXACT reasons he used against us last year. (He claims he was brainwashed, his BM is being horrible to him, he is always bored, he doesn't feel like he can talk to her, etc). I told FDH that it sounds like he is just using custody as a way to get attention. Of course, FDH says there is no way that could happen. :sick:
I'm not sure what to think.
On the other side of things, SS20's wedding was fun and all of FDH's family was awesome and totally supportive of me. They were the first to find the alcohol for me when BM was around

From this stepkid (me) he's using it to play the I don't like the rules here I'll go there which usually means tge kid is misbehaving big time and hopes for leanacy at which ever house he's a not at. It's a trap don't fall for it.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Unfortunately, his mom and dad love to drama it all up and go " oh, poor abused SS".
Thank god my FDH had enough sense in his head to tell SS he needs to learn to deal with his mom and that he wasn't going back to court.

I had your situation with my SD. When she was about 10 years old she all of a sudden wanted to live with us, my husband said yes. She was here maybe 6 months when she decided she didn't like "rules" and went back to BM where there were no "rules". This went back and forth until when the SD was 14 (well, 14 and a half). The courts ordered her to live with us because BM wasn't making her go to school. I always thought the back and forth was a nightmare until we had her full time! That's when the real night mare started!!!
Hate that you are in this situation and I pray it doesn't turn out like mine. My husband would never put his foot down and tell SD that she had to stay here or there. I wish he had. She just used the situation to make them jump and sure enough the BM and my husband jumped every time!!
