BD1 calls me by my name....Does it ever stop???
Ok So I know why she calls me by my name. Because all three of my step children do. But my husband and I always refer to my as mommy to her and mommy and daddy when talking to each other to the point that even my ss2 that is with us full time even sometimes calls me mommy. Why does BD1 still call me Tara? Has any other BM & SM gone through this? How long does it last?

Our daughter is 3 1/2 and she
Our daughter is 3 1/2 and she would get confused because SD15 calls me by my name. DD10 calls DH by his name. This poor kid didnt know who was who. A couple of times she tried to call me by my name and I told her I am her mommy and she has to call me mommy. I explained that I am not SD's mommy so gets to call me by my name. She was also old enough to understand I think she was 2 1/2 at the time. Once in a while if I don't answer her fast enough she will say my name!
its normal. just keep
its normal. just keep refering to yourself as mommy, she will catch on.
For the record, my cousin's biokid would refer to her by her name for a period. now my cousin's grandkid does. lol
I would never beat any of my
I would never beat any of my children bio or step. I do believe in light spankings and smacking naughty hands, but I would never beat any of them. Most of the time there is nothing like a time out in the corner. Thank you. It just kinda bugs me because one of the few things I have ever wanted in life is to be Mommy. Now that I am I am Tara so it is kinda painful but I know my daughter isn't doing it to hurt me. So I will be fine it is just kinda hard.
My DD12 did that too. More
My DD12 did that too. More so with DH since I was a CP of her.
I finally talked to DD (then 8/9) and said instead of refering to DH by name whith DD ( then 1/2). Say sister, go take this to your daddy.
O.ce she did that she had it down pat.
Wow I had major concerns
Wow I had major concerns about this too. It still bugs me to death when FDH referred to BM as 'mommy' in my house. To me, this is my house and *I* am the only Mommy!
I now refer to BM and 'your mommy' and I would have done that from day1 if I knew how much it up upset me now.
But anywho, thankfully SD4.5 is old enough to know that all kids have mommies, and she has never called me by my name to BS. She will tell him that 'mommy is coming' or 'wheres your mommy' etc..
I dont know how thing will pan out as he gets older and shes comes over and calls me by my name, but at least she knows the difference and doesnt call me by my name to him.
If she were here full time of course, things would be much harder in that department.
