BM is probably invited to The In-Laws' For Thanksgiving

Ever since we were invited to SO's aunt's house for Thanksgiving, we've had an intuition that we'll be walking into a trap if we go. Based on my historical research (getting screwed by these people many times before), one of three things could happen:

1. BM was invited long before we were and she'll leave before we get there (SO has a job where he has to work mornings, and the in laws know it. Great opportunity to see precious BM!).

2. BM was invited long before we were and she'll be there when we get there. So we can, you know, spend time as a family! (read: they freeze me out and act like I'm dead while gleaming onto her and emotionally perving on her to their hearts' content)

3. BM doesn't go (best case scenario). They'll probably freeze me out anyway, but at least I won't have to see BM, soak up her self-righteous and putrid aura, and listen to her AWFUL voice.

We're going to try and find out from BM is going to aunt's house. If she's evasive and lies when asked (cue the cartoon mouse voice,"well, I don't reeeally have any pleeeaaaans yet..."), we won't find out until the very day. But we've both decided we don't want any part of it if BM is going. We may a) both come down with a horrible case of botulism or b) tell aunt we're uncomfortable and don't want to spend our holidays with the ex.

SD has her license now, so she can take her brother to Thanksgiving if MIL really "wants to see the kids". The joke is on the kiddos though, because it's really BM MIL wants to see. They're in love.

Can't either you or SO phone his aunt and ask whether BM is going? I would not agree to go AT ALL unless I knew one way or another what is happening.

That's good advice. Yes, SO can just ask his aunt who all is invited. Our plan is to not go if BM will be there. Why put ourselves through it?

Our BM goes to every family event. Fortunately we are 1000 miles away so we miss them all. Things are a lot better now that the 3 witches, er SILs, decided to "accept" me into the family and are nice to me. But our first Christmas at SIL1's, both the other SILs ignored me and hugged DH. BM was on her way, of course. So we left, much to everyone's dismay and drama. The whole thing was so psycho as I have made DH so happy and have a lot going for me while BM made him miserable for years.
