Pageant queen...NOT!
SD17 is competing in our state teen pageant the weekend after Thanksgiving. I will not attend the event for so many reasons. Mostly, because she is the biggest "bitch" I have ever dealt with in my life, specifically to me. I swear she is bi-polar and needs medication. Her mood swings are so frequent I am seasick! When DH told me he was providing the financial backing for her entry, I almost hit the roof. But, I figured it would do no good, so I let it go. Now it is weeks away, and I keep getting conversations from him about how he wishes I would go and support her...PUKE! I just cannot do it, I really despise her on so many levels. My dilema, "if I don't go, I will look like a jerk...but no one knows what I have to put up with from her. If I go, it looks like I approve..and I DO NOT! Also, will it make our situation between us worse if I don't go? She is a great actress..so she could have a shot at the this pageant. If she wins, I will really look like a heal for not being there...What to do???

At the very least, you should
At the very least, you should go because your husband asked you. Be there for him
Why don't you just go for the
Why don't you just go for the amusement. We can use a good laugh!
Hi wtfcask, You haven't given
Hi wtfcask,
You haven't given a back-story for SD at all. If my own SD16 were going to join a pageant, I would not go because I am disengaged from her. I don't see her, I don't talk to her & when I am forced into a scenario where we are in the same room, I pretend to be a mature grown up & behave in a cordial (but not overly friendly) manner.
Who would view you as a "heal" for not being there? Does it really matter what "they" think?
It's a tough decision, I'm sorry I couldn't offer any real advice.
The back story isn't pretty,
The back story isn't pretty, nor am I proud of it. To sum things up, SD17 lives with us and has been the biggest thorn in my side on so many levels. I have disengaged from her and try my best to stay out of her path. She is very manipulative and has her father wrapped around her finger, so I often have an uphill battle. The reason I want no part of the pageant is because her involvement is such a farce. She is an attractive girl, but not deserving of a beauty queen! She previously won a small competition, and because she had a personality conflict with the pageant director, she blew off the duties and responsibilities of the title, so she was de-throwned...no kidding! She has done little preparation for the competition, and it's only 17 days away. It just occurred to her that she needs to diet and excercise...come on are you serious? I just can't stomach it..really or all the drama that goes with it.
Well you could tell DH that
Well you could tell DH that this is a special moment for him and his daughter and having you there may put her off her game. And really, pagents aren't your thing.
I didn't go to all my SSons scouting events. DH would ask me but I told him that this is HIS thing with HIS son.
If you go, clap enthusiastically for all competitors and be a good sport. Comment on ALL the girls to your DH... #45 has a lovely smile... That little girl has the cutest dress. Make it like an outing.
But if you choose not to go... well put it this way, only YOU can make yourself miserable for not going. It doesn't matter what anyone else says. They can say you were mean or non supportive and the answer is "I do not like pagents. They glorify outer beauty when inner beauty is what really counts."
ON THE OTHER HAND, YOU WOULD
ON THE OTHER HAND, YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO MISS IT IF THE LITTLE BITCH TRIPPED OVER HER DRESS OR HER EGO, AND FELL. NOW THAT WOULD BE WORTH GOING. THEN YOU COULD STAND THERE AND LAUGH YOUR ASS OFF. TELL YOUR DH YOU ARE SO GLAD YOU WENT. MABE YOU CAN HIRE ONE OF THE OTHER GIRLS TO TRIP THE BITCH, AND SHE MAY LAY THERE AND CRY WHY ME WHY ME!!! I WOULDNT WANT TO MISS THAT FOR ANYTHING IN THE WORLD LOL.
It would be funny, but not
It would be funny, but not plausable since I am 47 and have had my tubes tied for years!
