DH pulls back!!!

lisa510's picture

So since SS22 decided he wants to have a bank account opened to SAVE his money (which he hasn't done on his own) DH says "whatever, you have no insurance as of the sixteenth of this month."

I can't wait to see if he follows through! SS and DH argued about this issue. We are trying to set this young man up for success when he graduates. I am praying he'll quickly move out after college.

Everyone who knows a 22 year old man lives here thinks it's weird == except DH!!!

I was out dodging bullets in the military when i was 22 === no where near my home!!!

I don't think it is necessarily unusual for a 22 year old to be at home if still in college. However, not being responsible for ANY bills/insurance etc... is not realistic! I'm sure his friends all have to pay for themselves by now!! I hope your DH follows through, it would be best for everyone!

My children and steps are welcome to be living here as long as they are in college and maintaining at least a 3.0 gpa. However, there is a bus system that will take them to and from school and to and from work. If not, there is taxi service that they can pay for. If they want a car and insurance, they will have to pay for that. Also, once they graduate they will be responsible for their own clothes and extracurriculars. And the rules here don't change with the transition from high school to college.

I hope this sounds unappealing. I don't want them to live here forever. I've had children since I was 19 years old, and I've been the sole caregiver for my little brother since I was 15. I'm tired and I want to go to Europe. Or to see a movie by myself. Or for a walk without telling anyone. Sounds selfish, but I've about done my time.
