She was going to be three in June. My husband gave her to me when we became engaged. She was the best dog. She was beautiful and friendly, always in a good mood. She was playful and loved everyone and everything. She would run as fast as her legs could carry her but always come back as soon as I called her. She was everything.

My husband has a doberman who is not as smart as my little Peanut. He would run away every chance he got. He and my daschund were inseperable and if he ran, she would run right after him. I never worried because she knew the way back home and they would be waiting outside the door as soon as I got back.

Well my husband's doberman got out again tonight, and like always, my daschund ran right after him. I ran after them but it was too late. It was getting dark and my baby got run over. The asshole didn't even stop. Some people on the side of the road saw everything and carried her to the sidewalk. My husband checked her out and she was badly hurt. Her ribs were broken, along with her arm and her spine. He said it was most likely she would never walk again. As it is these dogs are prone to spine and hip problems in old age because of their short legs and long torso. He also determined that some of her intestines were badly torn. She was in a lot of pain and there was nothing that could be done. He euthenized her.

I have never felt this pain in my life, but I had to get this out. My eyes are swollen and my head hurts from crying so much.
