Mine and DH's kids are all four going to be with their 'other' parents for Thanksgiving this year. DH and I were hoping (with the promise of the new job) to be able to take a road trip, just the two of us while they were all gone. Since that fell through we were both feeling a little down about the upcoming holiday. So last night we decided that we would have our own Thanksgiving tonight with the kids since we have everyone overnight on Wednesdays!

DH and I went to the grocery store together last night and it was actually a lot of fun to shop for our little family (of 6) for the first time. I baked two pies last night and he made the turkey while I was at work today and then while he was picking up kids, I made the side dishes when I got home and set the table with all the fancy table stuff! We actually make a really good team! It was beautiful, the kids were pleasantly surprised and dinner was delicious! Bonus: no parents, in-laws or other family to mess with or coordinate with or worry about offending!

We even had some cheap wine and bought some sparkling cider for the kiddos. I think this just might be one of my favorite Thanksgivings EVER! I took some pictures and realized I am thankful for so much.

I'm thankful that we have a dining table large enough for all of us to gather around
I'm thankful that my DH and I make such an amazing team
I'm thankful that while money is tight, we managed to make a lifetime memory on our limited budget
