OT - Movie Recommendation!!

If you get the chance, go see MAGGIE'S PLAN! It's hilarious...and it also has one of the most accurate and mist empathetic portrayals of Stepmom life that I've ever seen on film...especially the trouble we tend to get into by taking on too much responsibility for kids who aren't ours early on. Brilliant!

It's got some farcical elements that are unrealistic, but on one level it's a very realistic portrait of a Stepmom learning to disengage and not try to fix everyone.

Have any of yall seen Room? That's the movie where the girl is held captive in a shed for like 7 years and has a child with her captor. I really liked it. I also liked how the stepdad was portrayed in an excellent light. Her dad couldn't handle the fact that her child was the result of rape and couldn't even look at the boy but the stepdad provided a very loving presence once they were rescued.

I read the book and loved it.
The grandma had a few issues too, the stepdad/grandpa was the only one who just accepted the kid. He didn't try to interfere or help or anything, just said hi, let's play with some Lego.
