OT - Almost Settled Back Into A Routine. Thank the Lord.
I am so, so, so ready for summer to be over. I feel like everything is up in the air and has been for weeks and it's all about to...land.
SS leaves for college Thursday morning. He wants to drive himself, but he's been spending lots of time here talking to DH and getting ready. I am glad and excited for him...glad for DH, too, that he gets to have some input and get this time with him. Glad SS is reaching out in this way. But I am also ready to have my home back!
I did a whirlwind trip to help move my sister to D.C. for grad school after her deadbeat boyfriend bailed on her at the last minute because he couldn't get the days off from his restaurant job. But, somehow, I could get totally free of my actual job at the last minute. Please. My hope is she'll meet a real guy in D.C. and dump this loser d-bag. Who knows...maybe all the guys in D.C. are d-bags, too...but at least they'll be d-bags with ambition and money.
Really didn't mind at all. I did 20 hours of driving in a less-than 48-hour period...but had a blast with my baby sister and it reminded me of when I was young and did stupid, crazy things. It also reminded me that I'm not so young anymore when I felt my back this morning...but oh well. Really hopeful that my sister will find her footing there and kick the dust of that crummy town she was in off her feet. (Sidenote: Do NOT believe a twenty-something if they tell you that they are "practically packed" and all they need you to do is roll up with a truck. This will most definitely be a lie.)
Also, SD goes back to school / back to EOWE schedule this month. Yay, yay, yay, yay!
So. How is the end of summer shaping up for everyone else? You getting your space back...getting those skids shipped off and settled back into their routines? Did you make it? Also...Eclipse? I'm right in the path of totality and getting pretty excited about it.

Eclipse will be partial for
Eclipse will be partial for us around 2:30 in the afternoon.
Bios are supposed to be with their dad until Sunday... then with me for 2 weeks, then back at dad's for 2 weeks... except just got asked if I'd mind having them from the 17th to the 20th instead of back on the 20th until the 3rd of Sept... because ex-inlaws want to take them on a trip from the 22nd to the 27th. Cuts the break a little but gives me another one.
Oh well. Can't say I'm not enjoying the time off from a full house! lol
Lots of stuff to do out in the yard... I have a pretty large yard, and I'll mostly just be painting bits of fence that need to be redone, doing a bit of minor landscaping (replenishing mulch etc), resealing the driveway, pressure washing the back face of the house...
Back to school is looming, I'm excited for that.
Also, wedding.
I like fall gardening and
I like fall gardening and yard work even better than the summer. I'm pretty far south...love getting tanned but the heat is intense at times. In the early fall, here, you still get the sun but about 10-15 degrees cooler and a nice breeze. Absolutely my favorite season for so many reasons...
Your upcoming plans sound lovely.
even lovelier because SO is
even lovelier because SO is probably going to be the one doing most of it! ha!
I love the fall too, favorite season. So pretty...and the air! so good!!
No I will never get my total
No I will never get my total solitude back. We are figuring things out so that SO has his time alone and I have mine. Should make the coming school year easier. Also SO's new job working the same shifts as me is really helping with all that.
The new house is slowly coming together and hopefully this time next year I will have my sun room as my little get away from it all. I just dream of the day that the dog leaves my kitties alone and they are laying out in my sunroom with my just relaxing, me chugging my box of wine (classy) and listening to music and no one bothers me for an entire day.
In October SO and I are going to Vegas, never been and I can not wait. A long weekend away just the two of us. Only a partial of the eclipse here.
Your sunroom sounds like
Your sunroom sounds like exactly what you need. Glad you're making it a priority.
I'm not classy about my wine choices either...:)
