This is a thread we have pretty much every year. We start watching scary movies around the end of August. Here is our standard viewing list:
1. What Lies Beneath
2. Salem's Lot
3. Omen (II? The one with Seamus in it as Damien)

7. The Fog (1980 version)
8. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
9. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Based on Ed Gein, this is more Chef's style--I prefer "spook" stories)
10. Carrie
11. Evil Dead (original)
12. The Grudge
13. The Ring (meh for me)
14. Wait Until Dark (1967)
15. Halloween, 1, 2 and 3 "Season of the Witch" (campy)
16. Friday the 13th (original, again, campy)

18. Any Dracula movie with Christopher Lee
19. Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)

I haven't seen What Lies Beneath yet.
The scariest movie for me was Wolf Creek.
The Amityville and House Of Wax remakes were both really scary.
What Lies Beneath
is fantastic!

Nice! I love scary movies and I haven't seen some of these.
Not many movies actually scare me (I watch them by myself and even go to the theater to see them alone), but, these kind of did:
The Descent
The Strangers
Also kind of want to see The Visitors now, after just seeing it online.
I can't wait to see the new Halloween!
I haven't heard of The
I haven't heard of The Visitors but I also enjoy the real situation movies. Well, The Descent may not be very realistic but still freaky!
I hadn't heard of the
I hadn't heard of the Visitors either, until I went online to check on the name of the movie The Strangers, and saw it. It looks good!
Oh
The Changeling
The Exorcist
That is all.
Blair Witch Project, the
Blair Witch Project, the original. That always gets me.

Diary of the Dead
The new "Halloween"
looks great. Jamie Lee Curtis is back and the film works as a direct sequel from the first movie. In this timeline, none of the other sequels exist. The movie was made by filmmakers who are true fans of the original and it has John Carpenter's blessing. Even though I am not a fan of "slasher" movies, I am a fan of Jamie Lee Curtis - I'm going to be watching in the theater through my fingers!
My husband is so excited to
My husband is so excited to see it! I am not a scary movie person at all! My sister and her BF (who is my best friend) and I keep joking that we are going on seperate dates that night, me and sis's BF are going to see a rom com and Sis and DH are going to see that!
Love
the Exorcist, the Shining and Rosemary's Baby. Not a big fan of the newer movies. They seem to rely too heavily on special effects.
Some of the newer stuff is
Some of the newer stuff is good, The Conjuring films have been decent, Get Out was good, but I find alot of straight to DVD or whatever technology now, can be found out there that can be down right creepy or just plain fun. This time of year is perfect for finding a new scare or enjoying some old ones. I'm still a fan of all the old Universal Monster films.
Dead-Alive
My fav part is when the priest is confronted by the zombies rising in the graveyard, and he gets all kung-fu on'em after announcing, "I kick *ss for The Lord!"
It's a grade-B Australian campy zombie film, with a crazy BM too. Love it!

Awesome, I'll have to check it out.
Shaun of the Dead is also a good one for comedy zombies, there is also an other version of it called Juan of the Dead lol
See now I can't stop talking
See now I can't stop talking on this lol
For a really great horror comedy try "Bubba Ho-Tep" from writer Joe R Lansdale , he's one of my favorite horror writers, the film was adapted from a short story of his by the same name from the book " Writer of the Purple Rage", most of his stuff is very original and can be bone chilling but he always adds some comedic elements to his writing as well.
Some of my favorites:
Some of my favorites:
Ringu (Japanese version of Ring)
Ju-on (Japanese version of The Grudge)
The Strangers
Let Me In
Gone Girl
Mother!
Ok, since everyone here likes
Ok, since everyone here likes Horror movies, I'm going to throw this out there and see if anyone has seen this movie.
It's called The Hand. It's from the 70's, I think? It's about a guy who sticks his hand out the window of a car and a semi comes along and chops it off, and the hand then proceeds to run around on its own and kill people. lol. This is one of my first memories, watching this movie as a child of maybe 7 or 8 (I started young with horror movies!). I remember the hand dropping from a rafter to strangle someone. So corny, but I kind of want to watch it again just to see what it's like, and I have never met someone who has seen it!
