disengaging from stepdog is not working (UPDATE)
After the eye opening posts from all of you which I read to dh and bawled and then talked to dh yesterday about how the dog is just so overwhelming for me, I don't hate the animal so much as his care on top of my jobs and dh's cancer and moving and so on and on and on was just waaaayy too overwhelming, so we have gotten into action. First, I took him to the Humane society's vet this morning and for a small donation price the vet was able to diagnose his skin yeast infection and prescribed a antifungal pill to give him. Second, the lil pooch has a hair grooming app tomorrow! All on DH's dime
I am NOT an animal hater or abuser, in fact my cat is overweight! I love animals and this dog is ok but he has his quirks and just needs a LOT of care. I think DH really seeing my dispair helped b/c I have always grumbled but kept on doing things, not really telling HIM my distresses.
I just wanted you all to know. I am also appalled by stories of animal neglect and abuse and watch tv shows on this in horror. Trust me, this lil pooch gets a lot of coddling and is not neglected. He usually eats more then his size is supposed to eat and has a big yard to himself (shares with the cat but...) and has the couch with dh. Noooo, this dog is just fine. My post was written in pure frustration.
Love you all and keep the posts coming - keeps me on my tippy toes

I'm so glad everything is
I'm so glad everything is working out for you. I can't stand most toy dogs either because most people don't train them or treat them like dogs, they treat them like BABIES and allow them to get nasty.
Anyhow, thanks for updating the boards and be assured that if you need a reality check, we're all here to slap the shit outta you! LMAO
^ I would also replace dogs
^ I would also replace dogs with kids. We ran into a disney kid last night who has not been trained and is treated like a baby. She was just a nasty little snot.
Im very glad to hear that
Im very glad to hear that Sterling.
I know I was particularly harsh.
I understand how the stress of everything all at once can get to you.
I hope it gets better.
Youve got a TON on your plate
Youve got a TON on your plate hun!! Not many could go thru what you are, with your DHs illness, his treatments, skids, moving, geesh!!! Thats ALOT!! You may have to admit your human hun, we ALL havd our breaking point!!!!
Yes, I did say your post earlier didt sound like you! Im sooo glad you talked to DH honestly about it!! Yay!!
Hope things start to settle down for ya girl!! You deserve to have happier times ahead!! When is the big move & how is DH doing? ((HUGS))
Well we were supposed to
Well we were supposed to close this past week and then move this weekend while DH is on the upswing of his treatments. He goes in Monday for another treatment and our house is supposed to close tues. Oh well, bs17 is coming home today to help finish packing, cleaning and is home all week to help us move and settle in. Also we have neighbors volunteering and 2 bs and 2 ss and 2 friends as well. I imagine DH will take the couch and just give instructions from there. In fact I have two couches and one will go over first so he can either be at the new place or here. It's going to be rough for him but maybe it's a blessing b/c he will be forced to rest.
The house is older and needs lots of cleaning and painting, roof cleaned, etc but after all is said and done, the mortgage is less then half the rent we're paying now, and it's smaller so it'll be cheaper to heat and easier to clean and best of all, it's small enough so that the adult kids that move out cannot move back in
After moving I got a second part time job to work so hubby can regain his health and not worry about money. We've applied for disability but that'll take time to kick in.
Thanks for being here for me folks. I need you guys
