Comment from DF on how I treat the pets and skids differently made me think...

We woke up Sunday morning and my fiance looked out on our back deck to see that the garbage bag that he'd put out there had been torn into. (Let me add that he knows better than to put our garbage out there because our puppy always gets into it, but he still does it when he's being lazy and doesn't want to walk to our front door and out to the garage...or if he's still in his underwear I guess!) He immediately grabbed our dog, shoved his nose in it, yelled at him, and then our dog ran into the kennel so he shut it on him to give him a "time out".

BM thought she could con us! She thought wrong!

This was going to be our first weekend EVER, ONLY taking my fiance's son. As most of you know, we have always also had SS3's older sister even though SD5 is not my fiance's daughter. We felt pretty good about this change (which occurred because SD's bio father changed his weekends and is now taking her on the weekends when we have SS...it's really how it SHOULD have always been). We are looking forward to having some one-on-one time with SS3 who is now becoming much more independent from his older sister (who very much enjoys bossing him around and telling him how to play).

O/T: Related to famous peope, oh my!

My fiance's brother is a hopefully-soon-to-be-famous musician (very popular in Nashville but hasn't signed a contract yet) and we just found out proposed to his singer/girlfriend (who DOES have an album out) and they will get married next summer!

Wish I could say names so I could suggest their music to people because they are AWESOME people and talented musicians...but that would both give me away (as I will soon have the same last name as him) and they haven't announced it yet either. But it's exciting!

Fiance's use of a big chunk of money... am I right to be annoyed?

Okay...I'm a little big peeved and need you all to tell me if I'm being ridiculous?

Our wedding is planned for next September. We both spoke to our parents and both sides plan to help us with a total of about $4,000 each. We were both really pumped about that because it was more than we were expecting.

Shared a funny moment with BM last night

We had the skids last night and SD told us that she had to wear a coat and good shoes tomorrow (today) because they were going on a little field trip, and that her teacher told them to be prepared. I realized she had come to our house with flip flops and no coat because it was a nice day yesterday. DF called BM to see if she'd bring over the shoes and coat. Day care had also asked us where the shoes were for SS3 that "fit" because BM had squeezed his feet into a pair that were way too small on him. Miraculously, BM had no problem bringing over the stuff!

How anyone can make BM happy is beyond me. She's all over the place with her expectations.

One day BM uses the "I'm the PARENT" speech with us regarding her daughter that we help her to raise, SD5. She freaks out if DF and I do anything that makes us look like the parents -- because neither of us are -- such as going to a school event.

O/T: Time for some Friday fun, all you StepTalkers! "I knew it was over when..."

Totally off the subject of step parenting (although for some of you it might be right-on) but I heard this on a radio show once. We've all had relationships or dates that went badly for some crazy reasons. Mine's a little long, but hilarious. Basically, finish the sentence:

"I knew it was over when...."

BM backed out on a school function for SD then got mad that we were planning to go....GRRRRRR!

Last night was a back to school night for SD5. When SD started kindergarten this year, I went online and printed off all the calendars and stuff because I knew that BM wouldn't tell us when something was going on. I knew this back to school night was going on, so I told my fiance that since we have the skids that night it looked like we were going to be the ones taking SD there and attending it. No big deal, right?

BM calls DF at about 3pm and says that she's going to pick up SD to take her to this thing. Okay, again, no big deal.
