We had the skids last night and SD told us that she had to wear a coat and good shoes tomorrow (today) because they were going on a little field trip, and that her teacher told them to be prepared. I realized she had come to our house with flip flops and no coat because it was a nice day yesterday. DF called BM to see if she'd bring over the shoes and coat. Day care had also asked us where the shoes were for SS3 that "fit" because BM had squeezed his feet into a pair that were way too small on him. Miraculously, BM had no problem bringing over the stuff! It was a pleasant surprise (and told me that she might have thought twice about how a few weeks ago I brought shoes to SD's school for her to wear because BM wouldn't do it).

Anyways, the kids had just finished bathing and were putting on their pajamas when BM stopped by. The skids greeted her and sat on the stairs talking to her and giving her hugs, and SD5 asked her to help her comb the knot out of her hair. SS3 said, "Mommy, you sleep here?" She was caught off guard and both DF and I looked at each other, not sure what to say, and BM said "What?" So SS3 said again, "Mommy, you sleep here? In my bed with me?"

HAHAHA we all busted out laughing because he was so innocently asking her to sleep over. BM said with a laugh, "No, my time here is spent," and we all shared a little look and a smile. It was nice to share something so simple and that it was taken completely naturally with no big deal or snotty remarks made. Maybe we're heading down the right path.
