BM, the effective teacher.
We've noticed that SS2 and SD5 never seem to learn anything of value from BM. For example, we work on letters and sounds with SD5, and counting and the ABC's with SS2. When asking SD5 if she ever works on her letters or sounds with anyone else, she claims they never do and that we only do them at my house. However, SD5 knows all the words to songs like "Gives You Hell" and anything Lady Gaga ("let's have some fun this beat is sick, I wanna take a ride on your disco stick..."). It would be fine if she'd picked up these songs randomly, as many little kids do, but of course SD5 tells us that mommy sings them to her and they listen and sing along with them every time they're in the car, and that mommy helped her to learn what the words were. Nice.
One day SS2 and SD5 were in the back of the car and SD5 says, "Wanna hear what mama taught SS2 to say?" This was back when we were trying to get him to talk more and worried about his speech. So she says this phrase so that he can repeat: "BOOYAH! In your face!" Again, way to teach your child something useful, BM.
This week, SD5 was so excited to tell us what she learned. She shouts out, "JK LOL!" and is soooo proud. Seriously?
It's just annoying that BM cares more about being "cool" than getting her child ready for kindergarten...which, oh yeah, she missed the registration round-up and now has to wait to register. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Exactly the same! Like I
Exactly the same! Like I said, it's one thing to sing along in the car to appropriate songs, it's another to go out of your way to TEACH your 5-y-o the words to inappropriate songs.
I told DF that I won't be surprised if as the skids get older, BM relies on us to be the homework helpers, paper editors, etc...I can already see it happening as she is clearly not able to contribute to her childrens' education.
How do forget to register
How do forget to register your child for school, sure means alot to that mom. Sounds like BM is not ready for school.
I KNOW! And that is after us
I KNOW! And that is after us asking her at least THREE times about it. Completely irresponsible!
Oh boy, just cuz you can have
Oh boy, just cuz you can have babies doesn't mean you should. My almost 3 year old sings things like twinkle twinkle & head shoulders knees & toes. But yesterday I caught him saying holy dukies...thanks dad. kids are like sponges you have to really watch what you say.

My sd is 7 and BM thought she will learn the clock one day on her own. They forced her to wear a watch every day cos they thought she and FH too that she will learn it that way. My bloodpressure went up, I made a clock from paper and used like 2days to teach sd how to "read" the clock. Sd is a very intelligent kid. One day she started to cry that she is the only one who is bad in math in the class. BM thinks she will learn it one day on her own, lol, there is no need to push the kid.... I was so mad cos of that attitude. Now when sd is with us I spend like 20minutes on math every day and she became the best in the class. I was so proud. I like BM and she is a nice person but on this issue she is driving me nuts
Sounds just like our BM. In
Sounds just like our BM. In our case, she rarely does any homework with the kids so we rush to cram it in during our visitation, which becomes a giant mess.
