Yesterday I was given a surprise "baby shower" by a group of friends of mine. It started as an invitation by a friend of mine to bring DD over to her house to meet her kids, lunch and swimming. We accepted the invite and when we got there the surprise was sprung. I was honestly moved to tears by some of the gifts given.

DD was stunned and speechless for most of the party. The gifts? Some were practical (McD's gift certificates for those evenings spent running to extra curricular activities and no time to cook.) some where silly (specialty tee-shirts that read 'mom' and 'daughter' on the front, the backs reading 'Don't ya see the family resemblance?'). Most of the gifts consisted of certificates to places one would go with a teenager (mall, shoe stores, mom and me manis and pedis, movie tickets etc).

SO was not there, he was at home riding hard on FSS to finish his summer assignment that is due tomorrow. There was however two small boxes from him on the gift table. Two little silver rings one engraved 'The luv of 2 moms nvr dies' for DD, and the other reading 'a daughters love is forever' for me. (per him the text speak on DD's was due to limited space to engrave)

We had a great time! DD met a few kids going to her school (everyone brought their kids) and DD and I are planning a few girls days out for some of our certificates! DD also met a teenage girl there who told her they were part of the same group - The chosen. They were better than bio kids, because their parents chose them.. as they were, no luck of the draw genetically. They were who they were and their parents chose to adopt them and bring them into the family. DD is now rather fond of this concept. So its our new joke around the house. I reminded the 'chosen one' this morning that her new status did not get her out of cleaning her room she laughed and is in there cleaning now.
