So happy thinking about a skid free summer

Skids are supposed to leave right after school ends and spend 8 week with mil in a different state. This will be the first break I've gotten from these kids in YEARS.

I will start my maternity leave in he begining of May, so the last month of school I'll be home during the day with just the new baby. After school ends I will have the last 8 weeks of maternity leave to enjoy with bs(will then be 3) and newborn bs. Just thinking about it, a wave of peace washes over me. Two full months of having a peaceful home.... And yes a toddler and a newborn will be far more peaceful than dealing with the w skids. Getting to have the boys bond, and me getting to focus on my own kids.

I am starting a list of all the things I want to do for bs while the skids are gone. All the things I can't do with him while the skids are here without catching shit for, or having to shell out 3X the money to sign everyone up. He's going to get swim lessons, an art class, a school skills class, and looking to see if there's a sport program he might like. AND we are going to take a trip to visit my family, just us. My first real vacation in 7 years where I can actually relax and enjoy myself. It will probably just be a long weekend, 4 or 5 days..... But OMG am I looking forward to it.

I am counting down the days. Going to research ticket prices this weekend to get them booked asap so no one can change their minds. This is one bill I will gladly pay on the skids behalf.

Yeah for you! DH was just telling me the other night that his Aunt that lives a few states away from us, wants the skids to come stay with her for a month this summer... at first I was like WTF? SS13 does not deserve to go, he's been caught shoplifting, is failing school etc why should he get to go on this fun month long trip???

Then the lightbulb went off and I said oh wait.... if they are at Auntie's for a month, that means I have a whole MONTH of no skid drama! (waving) have fun on your trip skiddies!

That was my initial reaction too. I was thinking absolutely not.... That I would pay for plane tickets so those two can run wild all summer, and then I get to deal with getting them back in line before school.

Then it dawned on me..... They behave badly no matter what, id have to spend more on them over the course of the summer than the plane tickets cost anyways, and this way I get to spend the summer without them, and bs gets to not be influenced by their behavior.

My only fear is that after getting time away from them and experiancing how nice life could be , it'll be harder to go back in the pressure cooker once the trip is over.
