Dinner time is always the hardest part of my whole life. The real mom has raised them on McDonald's and mac & cheese. If we're not having that, then they're not eating. Dad works til 7 tonight, so I guess that they'll sit there with their food until he comes home and tells them that it's okay and they don't have to finish....just respect what I say. Don't make yell, don't make me threaten, don't make me be the evil stepmom that I'm trying not to be. I know you hear me, just LISTEN!

My SS would not eat when he was here for a long time. He was required to sit at the table with the rest of the family and be quiet and respectful (yea right) of those of us who were eating the meal I had prepared (I love to cook). I would make stuff like pork tenderloin or chicken cordon'bleu. He would look at it and say it was nasty or something. He had to sit there whether he ate or not until the rest of us finished.
One night I made cheesy shrimp stuffed mushrooms and he had eaten mushrooms on pizza with BM so he took a tiny little bite, he LOVED it. Now I make something and he's more than willing to try a bite and shocker he likes real food. Now he wants his mother to cook for him and she doesn't, but he doesn't tell me that my food is nasty anymore. He sometimes tells her that I make him eat things he doesn't like, but he's fine and much healthier.

Wow, so there is hope! I love to cook also, though the boys are never inclined to try anything that isn't fried or covered in cheese. Oh, and if it's green, forget about it. However, I made meatloaf the other day expecting the usual sighs and complaining, but they loved it. They actually ask for it now...If I didn't know how to cook, I'd make meatloaf every night....

I made Chicken Alfredo tonight...not a big hit. That's what inspired this post Smile Thanks for listening.

As soon as skids come over and see me cooking, they automatically start with the "My stomache was hurting all day today" so if they don't like what I make, they have an excuse not to eat it. So sorry you are used to eating take out or crap from frozen and I make everything homemade and from scratch...including the bread that they eat.

They'll eat hamburger helper (retch) but not homemade food? And I am a very good cook...even DH doesn't fall for their b.s. on that one!! As soon as they're told they'll eat it or nothing else, my food becomes edible.

OMG, I got the same thing tonight! 'My stomach hurts.' 'I'm not hungry.' I actually got a new one today....tell me if you've ever heard this one: 'My hands are too tired to eat.' At least he's creative. My rule is eat what I give you or don't eat at all. Tonight, he chose the latter. At leat he has a choice! Starving kids, far away countries, blah, blah....spoiled. We don't eat fast food! We eat healthy food! Tastes like poison to them...

My hands are too tired to eat! Pretty creative. I would have said that was terrible, and too bad he wouldn't be playing any video games for the rest of the night since his hands were just too tired!!
