Such a relief (update)
Just finished the phone interview to start the process of getting SD13 some real help.
It went well I think. She asked a shit ton of questions, all multiple choice, mostly about her behavior.
At the end she asked a new set of questions....and they were about me! "In the last 7 days how many times have you felt...depressed, sad, frustrated etc. how many times have you not been able to focus....How often do you and SO argue about SD." After I answered them all I was a little thrown off. Wait. You mean I matter? My feelings matter? The effect that this child is having on me matters? I'm not just a silent house keeper?
I guess this program is designed to help the whole family. Not just the child. They work with all of us, together or individually if we like. I feel so much more hopeful now. They are going to give SO and I tools on how to deal with SD and on how we can better get along with each other and improve our relationship, along with diagnosing SD and giving her all the help and counseling she needs.
The best part??....Its all free! The joys of being Canadian
Sorry guys, don't mean to rub it in, just really excited!!
