In Motion

Well the loan for the $6500.00 we have to pay the ex within 30 days from the hearing is in motion. We received the okay and just sent the signed paperwork back today so within the week we should have our loan. It really "sucks" that we have to pay her outright but in the long run it works out for us better. Instead of $600.00 per month from hubby's check, we will be only paying $150.00 per month for the loan. So I guess it works! The other thing that "sucks" about it is that we are sure she'll just take the money and go hire another attorney. It never fails! Anytime we give her a large amount of money, it goes to retain an attorney to take us back to court for some reason. Oh well! Life goes on and eventually she will run out of reasons to take us to court and we will be able to get on with our lives.

Hi Lyla,
The garnishments are not automatically released. You need to check on it. I can't stay on the computer. There's a lightening storm.
Will write later.

The garnishment won't be taken off until they get the $6500.00 and if they hold another payment out of his check then we have to wait for them to reimburse us. It's crazy, but that's how the system works here.

Hi Lyla,
I don't know how you all got stuck with that stink'n garnishment in the first place. But I can tell you, even though my husband had to pay a large sum of money due to the ex's shenanigans in court (you know how they always end up smelling like a rose) we elected to draw everything out over time. Thus, she couldn't run off and spend the money. Hence, she had no money, to get another attorney, either. I don't believe that she paid the last one, anyways. Otherwise, it only gives them more ammunition to keep playing the game. And you just wind up with more and more debt. Because we wound up with arrearages because of her taking my stepdaughter even though she wasn't supposed to have visitation with her at the time, as well as continually mounting attorney's fees. In the end, all we had were these exorbitant bills that were hanging around our neck. We paid them off, from the proceeds of the sale of our home, but never again would I do anything like it. B/C at the end, we had nothing to show for it. I just wish there was some way you could deduct it on your tax returns.

The only thing that stopped Bf's x was that she ran out of money......

We used up his share of the sale procedes from his house AND had to refinance ours.....to pay our legal bills.

She drove herself into backruptcy....she was just blinded with making us miserable...regardless of her own financial peril!

We look at it this way...Either we handed X all our money on a platter... or... we give it to our lawyer...The money was never ever going to be ours...she was going to see to that.

We like our lawyer..we'd rather see it in his pocket..

WE still hang out have lunch etc.....good guy...for a lawyer!!
