Soon we will be preparing to go see Lazy Boye graduate from his summer military training. Loghead and I are excited about the chance to get away for a few days and visit a new, unknown place. And of course see skid we haven't seen all summer. We have our plane tickets and are having fun researching tourist attractions and places to stay. He's even bought me a new outfit for the event, and we are just so happy about it all!

So here's the downside. Loca Grande. She has told the other skids she plans to go. But I haven't heard a word from her all summer. Now that the skids are all in college, there's no need for much contact, although she often sends a message even when things are smooth, just to rile things up. I figured she'd be bugging all the time to find out what our plans are. Loghead and I have been quiet about our plans so the skids have nothing to report back to her.

I can't imagine she and her husband can afford to go- we're lucky to fly out for under $700, and that doesn't include food, hotel or anything else we will need. She lives paycheck to paycheck. She has moved to a newer house and has a new car, all in the last 6 months, so I can't imagine how she affords anything these days!

I don't want her there. Lazy Boye has even said he doesn't want her there! But I don't want to be side swiped if she shows up. Cuz if she shows up, we'll have to share all our time with him with her also, because he will have limits on what he is able to do...

My nightmare is that I step out of my hotel room as the door across the hall opens and it's her.

So closer to the date, do I contact her about her plans or do I just take my chances and handle myself with grace if she appears? Either way, it just makes my stomach churn... I mean it's one thing if she shows up unexpectedly to a basketball game in town, but seeing her unexpectedlly halfway across the US is another thing!
