She only calls when she wants something
Daddyyyy, are you gonna send me a birthday present? Can I have my phone back? The school says I need a computer this year...
But at least she's not in the same house as me:D
I remain disengaged. We sold her phone after her mother said she was once again sending inappropriate pictures to strangers. And I don't see what would stop her from doing the same thing on a computer.
Do public schools really require computers???

I would say yes public
I would say yes public schools require computers, but that doesn't mean it needs to be a laptop.
When I was in high school the family computer was in the kitchen and that is where you used it when you needed to do homework.
DH already gave her a desktop
DH already gave her a desktop a few years ago. I think she should just use that one.
I 100% agree with you. All
I 100% agree with you. All the school really wants her to do is research on the internet and type papers. A desktop is perfect for that.
Our school district doesn't,
Our school district doesn't, but one near us does. All the kids have iPad-type devices that their parents purchase. They turn in their homework via these tablets, and their textbooks are downloaded onto them(instead of having regular textbooks). They do have a limited supply for kids to use and turn in at the end of the year if their families can't afford them since they're required. If it's the same deal at your SD's school, would borrowing be an option?
In our area, schools do
In our area, schools do require laptops from about the age of 12. They are a compulsory purchase. I think it's crazy, many kids can't actually spell properly at that age, what the hell are they doing with computers?? I may be old-fashioned but I think it's crazy.
I AM much better, Sally!
I AM much better, Sally! Thanks for asking:) I haven't had one of those all day lying around half dead illnesses since I've been home.
And she's having a much harder time being a pest now. I honestly think DH is relieved she's not with us anymore. We've not had a single argument in the six weeks we've been here:)
