Thanks! We are doing a lot better, as well. I really think all the things we've been doing is working with my SD12. Even SHE seems happier and we are getting along much better without all the mini-wife stuff complicating things.

I hope you enjoy it! I would give him the one especially for dads since the book for stepmothers has a lot of "secrets" in it that our husbands might not understand. The guide for dads is written especially for them, hopefully in a way men understand better.

I have written two total in this genre. My "normal" genre is Romantic Fiction but I have written two other nonfiction books in other genres. These are under totally different pen names because the genres are so different.

I generally do best writing about whatever I'm passionate about. At this season in my life I am passionate about making things work with my husband and (or in spite of) my mini-wife stepdaughter. I have a book brewing in my head about battling your stepkids for your marriage. I know that sounds terrible, but it IS a battle and society, husbands, in-laws, EVERYBODY is on their side and MUCH of the time it is THEIR fault. A lot of the stepmothering books I have read pretty much tells us to suck it up, make changes in ourselves, blah, blah, blah. I want to write something that is actual useful.

Some of it is geared specifically for female children, but a lot of it probably would be helpful for any stepkid, IMO. Especially if the stepson has been put in the place of confidante and companion for his dad and is unwilling to relinquish that position.

Well, the way I see it you have several choices, and you might do more than one of them.

#1... Is you husband willing to read the Mini-Wife Dad's Guide? It would help if HE understood how utterly inappropriate it is for a 14 year old to sit on his lap.

#2... You could gently break it to him how utterly inappropriate it is.

#3... You could wait until you're alone with her and let her know how utterly inappropriate it is. (I did this with my SD12. She hasn't pressed herself up against my husband's back since that talk.)

#4... Occupy his lap so much that she doesn't have a chance to sit there. Make it very enjoyable for him so that he doesn't want anyone but you to sit there.

#5... Call her out in front of him... "Aren't you a little old to be sitting on your father's lap???"

#6... Take the picture anyway. Don't give it to her. Only show it to him when you're in private and you have a chance to point out how much he resembles a pedophile.

#7... LOVE your idea of photobombing all selfies she tries to take with Daddyyyy. Make them ALL into "family" pictures }:)
