Why is it never "because she's my girlfriend/ wife"?

justthegirlfriend13's picture

SO and I were having a disagreement today and I'm always hearing from him "because they are my children". No matter what the reason this always comes up as an excuse. How come he never uses the "because she is my girlfriend/ wife/ partner/ SO/ whatever"?

Whenever it comes to telling the kids something, telling the ex something or just justifying anything to anyone he will never use that line but constantly throws out the " because they are my children" line.

He'll tell me that using me as a reason for anything to anyone else isn't enough of a reason.

I'm sick of it and upset today. Just needed to vent. Thanks.

"Not enough of a reason???!!!" --- Oh, this is not good.

Say, "Ok, they're not MY children, why should I make this accommodation?"

"Because I'm your husband."

"Not enough of a reason," and walk off.

You DO matter.

Back when DH and I were just dating.

Skad33: Why the hell do you put stepx2 over your kids? (I wanted him and his bitch GF no where near me and then SO was kicking them out due to the hell they were causing me)

DH: Because I love her and she's going to be my wife (this was before the thought had ever even crossed my mind yet) and either you show her respect or you can get the hell out of MY house!

Of course DH can still be blind to Skad stupidity but I noticed several years ago that once I stopped pointing their antics out to DH, he can see them more clearly for who they really are.
