What do we do from here?
Court is in 19 days. Whoo Hoo!
Previously we believed BM was making up illnesses. However, it was discovered that one may not be so made up. While neither the cardiologist that he had been going to, or the electrophysiologist that we were aware he went to made this diagnosis a 3rd cardiology clinic did. Apparently back in 2017 he was given this POTS diagnosis. Now, we were told SS was fine by everyone else, including his primary doctor. It took a lot of digging on my part to find out that this doctor even saw him.
We still have to talk to this doctor. The 1st cardiologist wrote a note saying he couldn't go on a cruise with us. Once we called for a true diagnosis for the travel insurance claim we found out that it was all BS and BM begged him for the note but didn't say what was really going on and claimed the note was for her- nothing about DH. Did she do something similar here? Is this all really to shut BM up?
Now, a normal parent would probably not have a kid playing baseball, basketball, and football with a cardiac condition that requires special considerations even in the classroom. But BM does...otherwise she couldn't show what a great mom she is, right?
Do we take this up with the school as joint legal guardian and state that he is no longer allowed to play for his health? Do we let it go?
On the plus side, if he does stop sports BM won't have excuses for him not to come to our state. So that is really a strong reason to go for it.
The other question we have is -- Is this where we supposedly endangered him?? Because we never were told. Because all the doctors we spoke with said he was fine? We took him on trips, we took him to amusement parks, we took him on zipline adventures, etc. Did we risk him without ever knowing? We probably won't know that part until we go to court.

I would request another
I would request another independent evaluation of his cardiac issues. Be sure to mention that he's been playing sports with BM and it's important to know for sure if that's safe for him.
One of the reasons people with Munchausen's are so successful is that doctors give in because the patient is so persistent and difficult. They have a short window of time to see people and sometimes they just write a letter like that to get them out of the office.
Yes, I like this!
Yes, I like this!
I agree about Munchausen's - she is so persistant and if one won't tell her what she wants she will keep going until someone does.
We did find out that even her specialist for EDS stated that he doesn't have it. And no one knows where dyslexia was diagnosed.
I would request, in the new
I would request, in the new CO, that if the diagnosis is accurate that SS no longer be allowed to play in sports that endanger his life. Then AFTER the court case, send letters through your attorney to his coaches explaining that he is no longer to play, per court order and/or per diagnosis, and if he is continued to be allowed to play against the parent's wishes that a separate suit will be brought against the league.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Ok, I like that! I want to
Ok, I like that! I want to always go knee jerk reactions. DH is my calm. He has to analyze everything. I am the emotional one! This is very level headed.
This is more than likely a function of Dr shopping
I agree with tog. There needs to be an independent cardiologist evaluation done before you do anything. If he has POTS, which is truly suspect since no other doctor has suspected or treated it (nor is he on medication or showing symptoms of it) and no precautions are being taken, it doesn't negate all her other crazy assertions about his health. God knows what she's telling the docs, too.
Just kind of chuckling to
Just kind of chuckling to myself but if doc 1 and doc 2 said he is good to go.. but doc 3 said he does have something wrong... I guess we need doc 4 to clear it all up? LOL this should be medical insurance fraud!

Lietenant Dad had a great suggestion!
Kind of funny, SD9 actually had a cardiac condition as well. She is not allowed to play any sports that get her heart rate up too high, or do a lot of strenuous physical activity. But our situation is almost the opposite! She is a normal kid, with some limitations. She is on daily meds and has to carry medical equipment with her. This doesn't mean she can't run around, jump and play, ride her bike to school...most normal kid stuff. She just can't run track, play strenuous sports, etc. But BM is also the type who has to constantly run skids to Urgent Care for any scratch, owie, etc. So Crazy is the one who fights to not let SD play any sports. SD desperately wants to play. My SO talked to the Dr. about sports and what SD could and couldn't do, and told Crazy what they said, but she still kept telling the teachers SD couldn't do anything because of her heart condition. Finally my SO had the Dr. write a note stating what sports she was allowed to play (cheerleading and volleyball, as long as they don't make them run laps or do extreme excercise), to shut Crazy down. Luckily in our case, SD sees a cardiologist that specializes in her heart condition, so Crazy can't try to take her to some hack Dr. to get her way. Now everyone has a copy of that letter, and there really isn't any arguing about it because it's documented.
Definitely get it documented, have it written in the CO, and copies distributed to every person that is involved. It's hard to argue with that!
Pots can vary significantly
Pots can vary significantly in intensity and symptoms. I actually do have it along with diagnosed Eds.
Was a tilt table test done?
Yes, we talked to this
Yes, we talked to this cardiologist last night and went over everything. She was very throrough and we don't question this doctor's opinion. She did say that she was unaware that he had been seen at another cardiology clinic or the electrophysiologist. So that was concerning, but ultimately we don't doubt her findings just based on the test results she read to us.
What is more concerning about the ONE thing he does actually have is that BM told DH he was fine and all the fuss was just puberty. His minor tachycardia was just related to growing and there was no concern. FOR REAL BM?!?!?! She will lie about him having EDS. She will lie about him needing Colon Surgery (it was constipation and he took some exlax and moved on), She will lie about him having Dyslexia... but when there is one thing wrong with him -- for real... Lets lie about that and say he is fine. Lets hide the fact that this is a 3rd doctor that was not sharing info/ receiving info from the other 2 in cardiology or his primary care or his father. Lets just sweep that under the rug -- except for his 504 plan which is how we found out about it to begin with!
I am exhausted... 18 days to go...
It actually makes sense if
It actually makes sense if she is indeed Munch.by.proxie. If she allows the actual health concern to go untreated, she can bask in the attention when problems surface.
This situation leaves ME feeling sick. This broad deserves jail time.
I didn't even think about
I didn't even think about that aspect... ugh... now I feel sick all over again!
Was the diagnosis based on
Was the diagnosis based on objective testing, or BM's reported "symptoms"?
