Mother's Day

I know it is a ways off but I always try to do something small for my kids stepmom for Mother's day. This year they will be with their dad and stepmom the weekend before so I need to send something up with them. I usually get her something  like bath and body works basket, or Yankee candle does fun things... Last year I got her a flower pot (She likes to have them). I am just kind of at a loss this year on what to get.

What would you have liked as a token from your skids on mother's day? I hate being generic and could use ideas!

My skids last year gave me a scarf with flamingos and american flag flip flops and a card. They picked them out themselves and I was 1) totally shocked anyone thought of me and 2) absolutley loved them.

I think it's less about the what and more about the thought. Both gifts were completely random (one from each skid) but completely made my day. I admit being a SM, mother's day gave me some crazy anxiety, I was expecting endless rants of "you're not a real mom." or just being completely forgotten while I did all the work. I didn't need gifts, honestly just a "hey, happy mother's day." would have been more than enough. But getting something that they actually picked out for me made me feel beyond welcomed and happy.

So I'd just take your skids and give them a small budget to pick something out. I'm sure she'll love it, and even more so when they proudly tell her who picked out what :)

SO's ex gave us a card with scratch tickets for Christmas. I thought it was very kind even though so is super crazy. I may get her a little gift card to a coffee shop or something, just to be kind.

Scratch off's are always a hit at our house. They wind up in Christmas stockings, Easter eggs, attached to b-day presents. It's $1-2 and always fun even if you don't win!

How old are the kids?  In addition to the small gift, you might suggest to them that they give her a card in which they write what they appreciate about her.  I think it's wonderful that you're thinking of your kids' stepmom on Mother's Day.  You must have a wonderful relationship with your kids to be able to do that.
