School Pictures (vent)
So we have never had luck with school pictures in past years. I don't know why I thought this year would be any different. BM leaves us a message the night before picture day at 9:30 pm when she knows we were on vacation. Needless to say we didn't get to order them. I notified the teacher and told her to let us know when retakes where. SD closed her eyes so she was going to have to take them anyway. The teacher was great and sent us the package order form. I mailed a check to the school and somehow they didn't get it on picture day. Go figure! She did notify me and I ended up paying by cc over the phone. Per instructed by Photography company SD took two pictures. One for us and one for BM so the packages wouldn't get mixed up. I specifically told the teacher to keep our package at the school and my H would pick it up from her. Well SD came last night and brought the pictures. I was pissed off!!! I can't believe the teacher let her take them home. They weren't that great. She was barely smiling. I asked her this morning if she took two pictures. She said yes and BM switched some out with hers. WTF!!! After looking at the pictures 8x10 not so good, wallets and smaller ones not so good, 5x7 GREAT. SD said BM got same package and decided to be nice and give us the GREAT pose of 5x7. I told her her teacher wasn't suppose to let her take ours home and BM wasn't suppose to open or switch our pictures. I'm sure she didn't give us the GREAT 5x7's out of the kindness our her heart. I'm sure that we were suppose to get the GREAT package and hers was probably the not so good ones. They do have numbers on the side of the pictures and I will be contacting the picture company on Monday and checking to see who's pictures are who's. (right after I call her teacher) I really don't care if the not so good one is ours. It is the fact that BM thinks she can dictate what pictures are ours and what are hers. This is exactly why I wanted the pictures to stay at school. I called and told hubby this morning and all he could do is sigh. I think more everyday he sees the evilness that I have always seen in her.

Forget school pics.
Take her to Wal-Mart and have them done. Then you can pick what you want and BM has no say in it.

I can see how annoying working with the BM is for you. (for most of us) You have obviously dealt with many situations getting similar results. Other people don't change. You now know her m.o. So, when something is important to you like school pictures, go directly to the source or do it yourself like Anne suggested. My bet the photographer would send you a new order since yours is mixed up. "hands up" who's fault is that? Then I suggest, just letting it go because feelings like these just take away from your own peace.
Dealing with
all these irritating things can get to anyone so I completely empathize...
but the teacher has soooo many things on her/his mind that giving them these small chores (take package A home but keep package B at school) can also be overwhelming.

This year the company that the kids' school used, made a notation on each package - one said mom and one said dad and it was printed on the photos. I get the frustration - BM did the same thing to us. We didn't get an order form - she took it and filled it out and sent it w/ the kids but they forgot to turn it in, so we saw it.
We got a duplicate order from from the school, and paid separately so there wouldn't be a hassle. It worked this time. The problem w/ the Walmart idea, although I love it, is that the kids know that it isn't their school picture. They are still young enough to be excited to dress up and do their hair have a special outfit and all that stuff. So, to not be able to have the ones they took at school would be a big letdown. Hell, I am phtographer can take a better picture of them and have a lot more fun doing it, but they want to see the ones that came from school.

When Bm had primary, it never failed that she would forget picture day and send ss to school in some crappy t-shirt. We would order pictures not knowing this and when we got them they were useless. We finally did just what Anne said. We would order the cheapest school picture package just to have them and then take ss to get his picture taken elsewhere. It worked great! Now that ss lives here, we have no problems with that.
