SS "birthday weekend"
So...this weekend is SS birthday. The friends with kids that went camping with us over the summer are coming over to spend the night and the kids (only 3 total including ss) are going to watch movies and play games. Then tomorrow DH family is coming over for cake and ice cream before we have to drop off ss to bm at 4....then pick up ss same day at 8p.m. I'm worried because MIL has already commented on the time of the party via text (since it is only from 1-3:30) "but why can't we stay up all night, order pizza, watch movies, eat brownies, drink pop, etc?" Gee MIL I don't know...maybe because you aren't invited to spend the night (even though I have a strong feeling she will) and because we can't afford to feed everyone again??
DH has somewhat "reined it in" and only spend about $160 this year instead of the $400+ like last year. $30 of that was on food. Guess it could be worse. He also gave me an extra $90 towards his balance owed because he got a $1700 paycheck last week. Must be nice, and no that isn't normal he worked some overtime.
Now I get to rush home in ten minutes and bake SS birthday cake that Dh was nice enough to buy but has no time to prepare because he has to pick up ss from the bus stop right after work....
. OH and clean the house since we spend most of yesterday last minute shopping for this "party weekend". AND I have to somehow shove a queen mattress down to the basement from our upper level because our house is only a two-bedroom and there is nowhere for an extra bed for guests. At least half the basement is finished. Dh is embarrassed but wth are we supposed to do? Pop up the camper in the driveway and let them freeze to death?
Deep breath.
Here we go.

Hope its a happy and successful birthday weekend. Its interesting how people like your MIL make suggestions but do absolutely nothing to help in the process.....smh.
A birthday "weekend"? I used
A birthday "weekend"? I used to get a 2-hour party with my friends and my mom would bake a cake for dinner with the family that night.
No wonder kids are so entitled nowadays.
I vote for the camper
I vote for the camper personally, would negate it ever happening again lol
I can't say anything. We go
I can't say anything. We go all out for birthdays as well. It has a lot to do with how both our families never really cared or celebrated our birthdays.
Nothing wrong with that if
Nothing wrong with that if you can afford it! I would LOVE to go all out for birthdays honestly, I love parties! But birthday parties shouldn't come above paying the utilities lol. Someday we will be more financially stable I hope
