The Supima Design Competition is growing.

For the seventh edition of the annual event, two schools have been added to the lineup. The Academy of Art University in San Francisco and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles have been selected to participate in this year's competition, which was created to give runway exposure to emerging talent.

These two California schools join New York City's Fashion Institute of Technology, Ohio's Kent State University, the Rhode Island School of Design and the Savannah College of Art and Design.

As part of the competition, one finalist from each school is selected to create a capsule collection of women's eveningwear gowns using Supima denims, knits, corduroys, twills and shirting. These finalists will show off their wares during a runway presentation on Sept. 4 at the Pavilion at Lincoln Center. A panel of judges will be present at the show and will name a winner once the show ends. The winner will receive $10,000.

This year's finalist are Jenny Hoang from San Francisco's Academy of Art University, David Lee from Los Angeles' Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Ou Ma from New York's Fashion Institute of Technology, Anastasia Iafrate from Ohio's Kent State, Sharon Moon from Rhode Island School of Design and Yuxi Bi from Savannah College of Art and Design.

Last year's show was hosted by stylist and fashion designer Rachel Zoe. Judges included designer Rachel Roy, costume designer Janie Bryant and modelJessica Stam, among others. Rhode Island School of Design's Morgan Selin was the competition winner.
