Whaa, A Compliment???

Yesterday one of my coworkers was talking to me about her garden (we both garden), and she said, "Oh your string beans should be about ready, you can pick them tonight!" I told her that I was going to hold off until the weekend because we have the kids and they like to pick things from the garden for dinner.

Then she said, "You're such a good stepmom." I was a little flabbergasted. No one has ever called me that directly I guess, and it caught me off guard. Furthermore, she said it so POSITIVELY. Holy moly. It wasn't at all sarcastic in tone; she was dead serious.

I'm pretty sure she's a stepmom herself, though we haven't spoken about it. She's in her 50's I think. Anyway, just thought I would share. It's not every day that you hear that!

That is a really sweet thing for someone to say.

I got that once.

SD10 plays a sport. It was from a mother of a kid on her team. DH was out of town and SD had a game. SD was with her mother at the time but BM doesn't drive. I picked up both BM and SD to take them to the game. (I didn't do it for BM, I did it for SD).

The child's mother said... "that's a nice thing for you to do".

I thought...thanks but I'd rather BM get over her driving phobia.
