Had "the talk" with SO yesterday.

After almost 3 years together and never actually talking about my role as "step mom" but just assuming we were on the same page, I talked to SO about it yesterday. I told him that I don't want to cross boundaries and do more "mothering" than he wants me to do. I love his kids and I have a naturally very protective and caring personality; I run a daycare and it's just natural for me to be that woman who flocks towards caring for kids. He told me he expects me to respect his kids and treat them as if they were my own.

Well that backfired.

A couple weeks ago, SO had a very interesting conversation with his lawyer. She was in contact with his child support case worker to get a complicated situation worked out there. I guess she and the case worker developed a pretty decent relationship while trying to work out the child support issue and have been talking with each other kinda regularly. Anywho, BM2 (the crazy one) called up their case worker to try to get more money out of SO. She told the caseworker that he got a raise and failed to report it (her attempt to get him in for a modification meeting).

Does anyone watch this kid??

SO went to BM's house last evening to drop off medicine SD5 had left earlier. When he was there, SD asked for his phone number and wanted to call him on the house phone to hear his ringtone, so he wrote it down on a piece of paper and she called him while he was standing there. Well, after he left (15 minute drive home) he had 38 missed calls from SD's house number! Apparently SD5 and her stepsister (who just turned 7) took the house phone and ran to the neighbors house and was making phone calls to SO and a bunch of random numbers they just typed in.
