When you raise a child...

Just wondering...

Is it ok if every single thing you ask to the child to do, you say "ok"? at the end...

For example: You have to brush your teeth, ok?

We are going out, get ready, ok?

We are gonna change the channel, ok?

You get the point. It bothers me because I think with kids you don't have to "ask for permission" as it seems with that phrase. With my son, I will just tell him "get ready, we are going out" or "go to bed, is late" without asking for "OK?" THAT BOTHERS ME...

everything DH says to SD5 is with that "OK?" at the end...

I always read about how stepparents feel left out many times. But I never really felt like this before.
SD5 came back from being with her grandparents for almost a month. And things were very close to what I expected in the first place. She wasn't very particularly "excited" to see me or anything.

SD5 shares a bond with DH that I wil never ever be part of. Obviously, and that is ok.

I felt like a stranger in my own house, is like I was SOOOOOO used to having DH by myself, that pretty much spoiled me. LOL

How Steptalk changed my perception of life...

Today I realized that Steptalk has changed my life in several ways. I will be ONLY focusing on a negative one that is related to my realization from today.

Steptalk provides a constant reminder of the “stepparenting” world and issues that have changed my perception for the world.

For instance, I went to the store the other day, and saw a dad with a daughter, she was probably about 9 years old, she was the biggest BRAT, she was whining; their conversation went kinda like this:

"The Stepfather"-The movie (WTF?)

There is a new movie (remake) called "The stepfather" about OF COURSE... an EVIL stepfather...

Ughhh... whatever... I think the media has already tried its best to make us all look wicked, and evil... I guess is not enough... Smile
