Love Watching DH Dig his own Grave
}:) I used to get annoyed and even upset about DH's parenting. Or Lack Thereof! My opinions always caused endless fights. I gave up long ago and sure enough, SD12 began taking over as the Alpha of the house. Finally, DH had enough and actually took action. Last week. For one weekend only. He felt so proud of himself so I let him gloat. BUT, as I predicted, it was only temporary. Last weekend, he swore he would have SD working in the house. Doing dishes. Cleaning floors. Cleaning her room. Cleaning common living spaces. Everything a 12 yr old is capable of doing. For the first time EVER on Sunday, SD was forced to do dishes & wipe the counters. Not much, but a HUGE step around here.
Well what do you know, today SD walks in the house from school and it's back to business as usual. She barely says 2 words, walks in her room, shuts her door, and doesn't come out until her Majesty's food is served. Oh, and DH made sure he did a thorough cleaning of the entire kitchen PRIOR to SD coming out of her cave. So now he can't order her to do dishes even if he wanted to because they are already done! :?
I didn't even interrupt him while he was cleaning the kitchen or suggest he let SD do it, like her "promised." I kept quiet. I figure, he likes to dig his own grave and let SD believe she will never have consequences and will never learn to be a functioning adult. She doesn't even know how to use a sponge. He had to teach her last weekend.
Later, I heard SD vacuuming her room so I concluded that DH probably didn't make her help around the house because she was too busy with her OWN room. Guess she can't do 2 tasks in a day. It's too much to help the rest of the house, plus clean her own freaking room, right? :O
