*UPDATE* On SD & Bullying

Fading's picture

BM called me last night and said that she and her mum are going to go speak to all the children's parents. I asked her if it was ok for me to show SD the bullying movies I ordered and the activity sheets, BM said she would be grateful for that and wanted to know where she could order a set for herself. BM started to cry when I asked her if SD was ok, she was very upset because she had gone through this kind of thing when she was in middle/high school and really didn't want SD to go through it. I told BM that I would be here if she or SD needs me. BM said that she would let me know how the 'parent talk' went and if we needed to do anything further. So it sounds like BM is going to try to handle it. I'll update when I know more.

(I still want to introduce those kids to "The Tear Maker" my big wooden spoon Smile )

That's good - I'm glad you're all on the same page. I just feel so bad for SD. No kid should have to be bullied at such a young age. Or at all, for that matter!

Doesn't it seem like bullies have gotten like, way more hardcore?

When I was a kid, bullies talked about you, or picked on you, or whatever. It was mean, it was rough, and it was emotionally taxing.

But DAMN. At FIVE? And telling kids to OFF THEMSELVES? WTF? These freaking kids, where are they getting this shit from?

YES! This is going on in my SD's class, and she is only 5. Luckily, she is a tough cookie and is sticking up to the bully (who used to be her close friend). The funny thing is that even when this little bully girl was 3 I saw issues when she spent time with SD and I imagined that she'd be a mean girl later in life...but I wasn't expecting it at 5.

This bullying mess is so out of control and that's why young children are actually killing themselves over it. I've read too many stories the past year or so about kids as young as 9 and 10 killing themselves over being bullied at school.
