Lalalalala.
Ah!
My house is clean in every corner, my kids got all the classes they want and even have teachers they adore, my mom took me out to lunch, and my stress level is back to normal. So, so nice.
I just want to curl up in a big blanket and watch comedies all night.
But...tonight is open house at the middle school.
I am thinking of playing hooky. lol.
I know this makes me a royal ass, but man...if I had a nickel for every open house, award ceremony, class party, and parent teacher conference I attended since my kids started school? (and keep in mind, I've had three kids worth of stuff every year except for this one)
I'd have...lemme think....hell, a ton of nickels. That's a lot of change.
Has anyone else felt like this? You know, like "if I have to go to one more meeting, I am going to cry"? haha. Or am I alone on this one?
Maybe I'm just getting lazy in my old age!

I'm a day late and a dollar
I'm a day late and a dollar short on the topic, but I teach and have to go to those stupid open houses twice a year. I no more want to go to open house than the parents. They're boring and a huge waste of time. How much does administration really think a teacher and students can cover in a few days to have ready for the "dog and pony show." I send home all of my expectations in a Welcome Back to School letter. That's all I need to say to parents.
LOL
I can almost say word for word what's coming out of their mouths before they utter it at those things! Boycott it! Don't go! LOL
Agreed
I too am a teacher & I feel EXACTLY like anony does.
Try 33 years teaching----with 3 kids raised and attending EVERY function through college graduation ceremonies/law school ceremonies/soccer team mom for two teams at the same time(WHILE WORKING FULL TIME)& on and on & on.
Oh yeah. I really want to do more motherly duties.
But back to the point, I think these are such a waste of time. I think I have 30 parents show (out of 200). At the beginning of the year the teacher barely knows the kids' names and they are beginning to gather enough grades on the books for there to be anything to talk about. So it is more about seeing your child's environment. Attaching a face to the name and lumbering thru your child's schedule, to see it from his/her vantage point.
Don't go if you don't want to.
OH Yes, I'm one of those mothers...
That at first went to everything and anything and volunteered for anything.
Ladies say it with me: I'M OVER IT!!
I don't understand, a free public school, costs me to much damn money. My kids are finishing the second week of school now and on top of almost 500.00 spent to get them ready, (supplies, uniforms, gas to get to the stores, ect) they are coming home with additional needs........WWWWWWJHHHHHAAAA GGGGGGRRRRRR!
I don't want to hear about poor johnny who's crack parents can't afford to buy johnny this that or the other....what about me? I'm held accountable !!!!
