Has Anyone Ever Heard of This
SD, 12 wants a perm. BM called to discuss this with DH and said that the hairdresser told her that she cannot have a perm because "she hasnt gone through puberty yet and the bone in her head isnt fully developed so the perm wont take".
This seems like the most far fetched thing I have ever heard but just wondering if anyone else had heard this???

My mom started getting perms
My mom started getting perms in my hair when I was around 9. I don't know if they were a particular kind, but looking back at some of my pictures, I can only wish they hadn't taken so well. :sick:

Which means you shouldn't shave your legs or armpits until you have finished puberty using that logic.
Never heard of it and it sounds far fetched. It sounds like someone mother doesn't want ehr hair permed.
In the african american
In the african american community it is very common for young girls to get perms at that age or even a few years younger, because the hair is thick and course...a (relaxer/perm) makes the hair straight and very manageable....

Thanks for the input, guys. The thing that I find HILARIOUS is the "underdeveloped head bone" theory! If SD's skull is "underdeveloped until she hits puberty" perhaps she needs to be wearing a helmet!!!

I've never heard that one. Most people I know start perming their girl's hair by about 3 grade. The perm isn't used to curl the hair, it relaxes it. A perm takes away the phobia many of us have about getting out hair wet. LOL
