I have not posted much about my SD other then the fact that her BM has been out of the picture for about 3 years and that we did not know where she was... today we received a letter from her... oh yay...

Here is a little bit of history about my SD4 and her BM...

SD had not see my hubby for 9 mths (thanks to BM with-holding her from him) and then one afternoon BM and SD showed up on our doorstep. (SD was a little over a yr old at this time) BM said she could not care for her and left. That was it...

We received a couple correspondence letters from SDs great grandmother (who had taken on mother role for BMs 5 yr old son) and had informed us 9 mths after the 'drop off' that BM had been booked in jail for residential burglery (felony) and once she was out would be coming back to get SD.

That was a couple years ago...

To SD I am momma. We have spoken to a lawyer the last couple of days and decided that we were going to file a peition to terminate BM parental rights to this little girl so I could ultimately adopt her. That would work wonderfully if we hadn't heard from BM today.. There is still the possibility of doing that since she did 'abandon' her child years ago with no intention of caring for her or providing for her.

Next step, parenting plan for full custody?

In this lovely letter BM thanked us (of course) for taking care of HER DAUGHTER and let us know shes back in jail again... this time... vehicular assault, but "as soon as I get out I will be back to start my relationship with SD b/c there will be nothing keeping me from her".

Im mad, sad, hurt, upset....every emotion right now... anyone been thru a similar situation?? If so, how did you handle it, pp/terminate rights? How did you handle it emotionally when you were the momma who cleaned this babys bottom, potty trained her, taught her manners, taught her #s, ABCs and how to write, supported her financially and emotionally... I was the momma who was there when she woke up in the middle of the night screaming/crying, i've been the one whos been there when she gets hurt or is sick/sad....
