O/T kinda - MILs birthday

So today is FMILs birthday, we had plans to go to BFs parents (theyre still together 45+ years) to celebrate her birthday. FMIL told me specifically that she didnt want anything and all she wanted was for the family to get together. Today when BF came home with the skids, SD7 came in our house with a bouquet of flowers with a card and some chocolates. She then informed me they were for her grandmas birthday from her mom (BM)

O/T kinda - keeping his last name

So after 2 long years, BF finally has divorce papers for BM. It took so long because it upset her feelings to have to deal with the divorce and she didn't want to bring it up in front of the kids. So the papers come in the mail to mine and BFs apartment yesterday and guess what? BM is keeping her last name. She says its 'for the kids' and I know every situation is different but my mom didn't keep my dads last name and none of my girlfriends parents did either. I can somewhat see why, but that is completely overshadowed by how ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED I AM!!!!! Ugh!!!!!

SD7s late night calls to BM

BF gets the skids every Saturday after work. They get to our place around 6 on Saturday and leave around 8 on Sunday. The kids are always in a great mood when they get here. Playing video games, playing outside, running around the house. We make them dinner, laugh with them, watch tv with them and usually have them in bed by about 9- sometimes 10 (Which IMO is too late for a 7 & 8 year old). SD7 is in a good mood until bedtime. Its like feeding a mogwai after midnight, or getting them wet. She goes bonkers when its bedtime. She cries, whines, screams, all to talk to BM.

Not her mom

SDs birthday is coming up, she will be 7 years old. BF and I went shopping and found some awesome stuff for her. Hair clips, hello kitty stuff galore and I will be making a canopy to put above her bed. At target I found this great book from American Girl called 'The Care and Keeping of You' Its pretty straight forward, it very simply explains taking care of your hair, teeth, body, and even as much as periods and breast development. I thought it would be a great gift for her. What girl doesn't need a guide?

First I want to say thank every one of you! I found this site just by googling help for step mom's and I haven't stopped visiting since. It's like having somewhat of a weight lifted off my shoulders knowing that I'm not alone in all this.
