BM is taking SS on her EMT ambulance calls

Catlover's picture

So DH and I just found out tonight that once again, BM who is an EMT for our county Ambulance service (yes I live in fear that someday I'll have to dial 911...but that's another story) and also works in as "volunteer firefighter" has been taking the 9 year old with her on her ambulance calls (she leaves him in the car unattended while she works on the scene of accident victims). The 11 year old is left at home alone. DH is livid. Even worse, she had blown a complete fit with our GAL stating that she had to have the kids on her days off, because of her 24 hour shifts. He agreed and built the 50/50 placement schedule around her work schedule. What she didn't mention to the GAL was that on her days "off" she works on the volunteer firefighter job and routinely takes the kids with her or leaves them home alone. So much for that "quality of parental time" that she was whining about. She doesn't even get paid for this!!! Now we're stuck in a quandry. Do we tell the GAL about this, or will we be seen as looking petty because we lost our bid for a week on week off schedule?

TELL THE GAL!!!The stuff that SS9 is being exposed to is detrimental to his health and mental wellbeing. It is not natural for a child to have to deal with that kind of trauma on a daily basis. What the Hell is BM thinking she is going to screw him up royally! Also leaving a 9 and 11 year old home alone is abuse..Its called neglect! So dont worry you are acting in the intrest of these kids wellbeing tell the GAL asap!!

OMG - that is completley horrible. A 9 year old should not be at the scene of any accident!!! How traumatizing. I think you guys should get custody!

The GAL needs to be the FIRST person you call tomorrow!

I would think that the ambulance company would have regulations against this. If you know who she works for I would call and find out. That is totally inappropriate. That would be a huge liability issue.

As much as it may seem like you guys are being petty but this is a serious issue and needs to be addressed.

I have just been through hell of what a bush fire can do and the amount of emotional stress it has cause to firefighters and anyone else involved. A child should not have to see this and it's disgusting even hearing that a BM could put her child in harms way like that.

Tell the GAL, it needs to be noted.
