Just a normal vent
Just a normal vent. Thanksgiving actually went really well, SD joined my family and my mom's new beau for a meal out and then we went to her new boyfriends house for a bit to meet them. All going well w/her on that front. My son is doing much better-so I should be grateful.
Issues are others- My boy Weim thryoid was re-tested and is still low-so his dosage has been a tad too low all this time. Have a followup Thursday. My girl Weim has yet ANOTHER UTI-this is like 3-4, she has a hooded vulva so is prone but I'm getting fed up. Another round of antbiotics-there is a surgery that can help repair but I found out her pet insurance does not cover it.
Me? Well, my non-union leg break had been doing SO much better. Able to walk/hike for an hour w/little to no pain. The last week I started hurting bad again. Been having severe night/cold sweats. I can barely walk again the last few days and the area where my plate/screws are is horribly swollen. I have an appt w/the orthopedic surgeon again next week. From what I've been reading it's quite possible the non-union could be along with osteomyelitis which is a bone/site infection. LIkely another CT or MRI scan and if they believe it is it, another surgery!!! Long course antbiotics- sometimes done through a line at home. My co-worker is out on another surgery this year for 8 weeks. I met my out of pocket max this year, so IF I need to have surgery again it's in my best interest to get it done this year-which would likely put my job in jeopardy or at risk since nobody is there to cover then my one manager. I really don't know what to do. The only good news is that for next year I was able to reinstate my Short term disability insurance in the event I need to be out again.

Ohhh.. that leg thing sounds
Ohhh.. that leg thing sounds painful. I think ultimately you will be better off physically and financially to get it taken care of. I know it isn't great timing for your work... but I think they would have a tough time firing you for a legit medical issue. Perhaps you could offer to work remotely some? In the end, your manager will have to figure out how to make it work.. part of her job.
Booooooo!!! So sorry your
Booooooo!!! So sorry your furbabies are having issues and especially sorry about your leg problems. CAN you work from home at all? Prayers and {{{hugs}}, hon.
Can't work from home anymore.
Can't work from home anymore. During my original surgery my boss allowed me to work remote for about 10 weeks or so....and apparently the director wasn't happy about it...as that's not what work from home is for they said. My boss allowed it because I didn't have short term disability and would have been w/out pay. That said, when out with segewick (I had some certified time paid) they said the job should give reasonable accomodations for return to work. I don't know what else he could have done? I wasn't released to drive! I was fully capable of working remote also- can't imagine the cost of an uber for 2 months for a 45 min each way commute!
Reality is-other then meetings everything about my job can be done remotely-and conference calls can be done via phone....plenty of people work from home at my huge company-other positions. In our area they only use it ad-hoc or once a week max. My co-worker and I both had wfh 1 x week for years-they took it away as punishment I'm pretty sure once I returned since I should never been allowed to work that long from home. Such BS.
I covered for my co-worker during her 3 months out where she was on disability because her injury was on her hand (couldn't type) and she is constantly out for extended periods and I always covered her work (double duty) myself for the last 4 years!!! Repeatedly! Scratch that-she abuse the work from home-she would take 2-3 days every week and my boss allowed it for insane mundane reasons....for years. THAT is where the abuse came from-not my MEDICALLY necessary accomodations.
Rats.
Rats.
The poor furbabies!!!
