BD15 Blew It Big Time
I have had the worst few days. My BD15 pulled a flip blade rambo knife on a boy at school and chased him. Fortunately, someone intervened before she reached the kid! This girl is an honour roll student, doesn't drink, smoke, do drugs or skip school. She is an accomplished artist whose artwork is on display at the school office.
I took her immediately to youth mental health, booked appointments with the doctor and have been racked over the coals for my parenting. I'm the strict parent in this town! No hanging out downtown, home or at approved friends by 9:00 pm. No phone calls after 9:00. Bed at 10:00. I have talked to all my kids about violence and consequences to no avail.
She is expelled from school and I am waiting for a displinary hearing. Nothing of this magnatude has happened in this school district before and I am scared they will make an example of her. I'm scared her schooling will be screwed up forever and I scared that if she ever snaps again she will hurt or kill someone.
I tried ladies, real hard, to raise my kids to be respectful, polite and responsible. Unfortunately, they don't always listen.
Pray for her.

Oh my.....
You and Your daughter are in my prayers. But just by reading what you have said about your daughter - I am thinking this boy has done something to her that is really bad.
It probably kept building up until she snapped.
I hope things turn out okay for her.
WOW!
Where did she get the knife? Did she tell you why she wanted to cut that boy??? I feel so bad for you - you sound like you have been a wonderful parent with good rules and boundaries in place. I'm glad you set her up with some counseling like that. I will keep my fingers crossed that things turn out ok for you guys and that this hopefully was just an isolated incident. Maybe by now she is absolutely mortified by what she has done. Please let us know what happens.
Huh?
It sounds like you are not getting all the information yet. I hope she is ok and you get to the bottom of it all. Do not blame yourself - it sounds like you do a great job!!!!!!!

Teen Depression
Thank you for your kind words of support. It looks like she is suffering from teen depression, which would explain the outburst. Hopefully, the school board will take this into consideration.... sigh. Poor child. not quite old enough to understand her emotions and too old not to know better.
I will keep all aware. All I can say is please please please keep an eye on your teenagers mental health. Depression and anxiety runs in my family, I just did not know that in teens that it manifests itself differently, I know now.
I am feeling a bit better about things in general. I have to wait to hear from the school before I can make educational decisions for her.
Once again, thanks for your support. Please look up the signs of teen depression and realize that the girls can be violent too.
We all smile in the same language
I am well aware
Hang in there Anita. I have been working with mental health professionals on behalf of SD since she was 9 and she will likely always need help.
If your teen is suffering from depression, then please know that if that's what it is she has an excellent chance of recovering completely.
