OT Princess Popcorn- I'm Heartbroken

PetSpoiler's picture

We sadly lost our beautiful little fur princess yesterday.   I took her to have her cysts drained again and the vet was unable to get her to wake up.  She tried to revive her and she was able to bring her back very briefly, but sadly Princess Popcorn's poor little body just wouldn't allow her to stay.  We are devastated, including my husband.  The vet did a necropsy and has never seen anything like it.  There is still uncertainty of what it was.  She did take samples of the liver and the mass.  Hopefully we can get answers at some point.

Sad Update on my fur Princess

PetSpoiler's picture

We were supposed to have Princess Popcorn's kidney removed this past Tuesday and have a biopsy done on her liver.  My daughter and I dropped her off Monday and they did some bloodwork and a CT scan on her.  I got the call Tuesday that the CT scan showed extensive liver damage done by the cysts on it.  There is also a cyst on her right kidney.  She had trouble waking up from the sedation.  They did not believe that she would recover from the anesthesia if we went ahead with surgery so my son and I went back to get her.  Her prognosis is poor, the vet believes that she may only have a couple

OT-Princess Popcorn the saga continues

So I had my little fur princess spayed due to ovarian cysts.  She seems to be recovering from THAT at least.  When I took her for her post op checkup, the vet noticed a hard lump on the right side where she made the incision.  Her kidney was dilated.  Popcorn has hydronephrosis.  The vet can't rule out the possibility that she tied off Popcorn's ovarian blood vessel into her ureter but there is also a possibility that she has a stone blocking urine from going into her bladder.  She drained the fluid to give her relief.  According to bloodwork her kidney function is normal.  To complicate th

OT-Princess Popcorn update and need to whine

PetSpoiler's picture

Well, Princess Popcorn had her surgery last week and it went well.  The only problem was later that afternoon when the vet checked her temperature.  It was lower than it needed to be, which was probably due to the anesthesia.  The vet offered to take her home with her and monitor her. She also took home a machine called a bair  hugger, which kept my little fur Princess warm.  So Princess Popcorn had a sleepover at the vet's house.

OT-worried about my fur princess

My guinea pig Princess Popcorn, was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst a few weeks ago.  The only sure cure is having her spayed.  It's a bit riskier for a guinea pig than it is for a dog or cat.  I could have the cyst drained or get a hormone implant put in, but those are only temporary.  The cyst could fill back up in a day, or six months, or something in between.  Spaying would fix the problem permanently but I worry about losing her during surgery or the recovery process.  But my daughter and I have decided that we are going to have her spayed in the hopes of her pulling through and living

Don't want contact with them

PetSpoiler's picture

So we cut off contact with my lying ingrate of a SS and his two faced lying gossip of a wife two years ago.  I think it was a mutual decision for the most part. I wish nothing bad for them.  I hope they have a good life but just leave me and my family alone.  Life is so much more peaceful without the added anxiety of dealing with people like them.  Here are some anxious thoughts though.

OT-Not step related, perimenopausal?

PetSpoiler's picture

I'm hoping to hear from some who can relate and/or have come out the other side.   I do have a history of anxiety and panic attacks.  They went away for YEARS, but started coming back about two or three years ago.  Last year I cut out caffeine.  That helped for a while.  Now barely anything helps.  It seems like here lately the panic gets worse around my period.  I have not missed a period since I was pregnant with my son.  There are other things going on too.  I'm feeling off and on weakness in my arms and legs, which could be related to back issues.  The doctor wasn't much help.  But I th
