Frustrated with unreliable BM

mella's picture

Need to vent. Haven't blogged in awhile. To recap, my SO has a 5 y/o who I will refer to as SS5 - although his dad and I aren't married, I do everything a parent does so I consider him my stepson. The BM is everything you could ask for in a BM - she does not supervise SS when she has parenting time but instead leaves him with his sisters, has no set bedtimes or mealtimes for him, she smokes and loves 4-wheeling and going to "the races" and the casino, etc etc. She never has money for gas to pick up SS, so we do 95% of the transportation both ways.

Kudos to the moderators

I flagged some stupid spam blog and within all of 5 minutes it was gone! The spammer had been a member for all of 16 minutes at the time I flagged him.

Just a shout-out to you guys who do the work keeping these boards "livable" for us. This is a very important outlet for us struggling stepparents. It is great to have moderators who are so responsive about protecting the boards. Thanks Smile

Being the on-call babysitter

My SO got a text from the BM earlier today that she "can't take SS" for her scheduled time this weekend (the weekend consists of Thursday thru Monday because that is when SS doesn't have preschool). The reason? Because SS's teenage half-sister who lives with BM will be "out of town." So pretty much BM is saying she can't take her own kid because her other kid won't be home to watch him!!!

So where does that leave me? That's right. I'm expected to cancel my plan for a relaxing kid-free weekend and take care of SS INSTEAD OF HIS OWN MOM.

Obnoxious things they say

My SS4 (will be 5 in a few months) has lately been saying things where I'm pretty sure his sole purpose is to try to get a rise out of me. Should I respond or just ignore?

Example, last night SS4 was sitting at the table while I was washing dishes. He complained about something obnoxious, and I can't even remember how the whole exchange went down, but it ended with him saying "I wish I was at my mom's house."
