Wow, this is a bit overwhelming. I've kinda been snooping on the site for a few days now, and I figured yesterday was as good a day as any to finally create an account. It looks like I'm gonna have to learn a brand new lingo system if I'm gonna post in here on a regular basis. Does Rosetta Stone have a program that coves this site lol. Anyhow, I'm a 25 year old step father to 5 year old twins. I've been the only steady positive male role model in their life since they were born. Their real father walked out when they were a few weeks old. He's just now, with in the last few weeks, starting to reach out and wanting to be a part of their lives. Everything in me is saying don't let him, I don't trust this guy as far as I can throw him.

Typical....they (deadbeat dads/sperm donors) dont want to be around for the REAL hard work like diapers, sleepless nights, etc. but once they can pretty much fen for themselves all of a sudden Super Dad magically appears!!!

I would talk to your GF about this and see how she feels. I would be very leary about letting this man just pop up into these kids lives like that especially since you are the only male role model and daddy figure they know!!!

Suggest that you do supervised visits on YOUR terms until the boys and you/GF are comfortable with him. If he is serious about being in his kids lives, only time will tell...

Good luck, trust your instincts. Make him fight for a relationship with them, and start out slow! Even though he is their "father" (ie. sperm donor), he will be a stranger to them and he should have to work for his rights back.
