my FSS15 is writing a paper about rome for school...i visited italy a few yrs ago and rome was one of the places we were so i was helping him out, telling him about all the sites, showing him pics, etc. well, he wrote his outline and in it he said "my stepmom went to rome..." !!! i feel so good that he referred to me as his stepmom bc im not technically his stepmom yet! just a little moment to make me smile Smile

Im in the same boat,and its such a great feeling to hear them refer to you as there stepmom when you are quite yet. Those moments make me feel like even with all the crap BM does and or says about myself and BF they still see me as a postive figure in there life and want to call me stepmom. Power to postive stepmoms:, when times are tough to try to remember this moment and think positve:)

I'll never forget the day my oldest SS told a complete stranger that I was his mom, well his stepmom, but that I treated him better than his real mom. Those words almost made me cry!

Sounds like my SS. Now that we live far away, he wrote me a letter , saying how he missed me, and he misses "the italian in his family". We were always pretty close, but BM hated that so she did her best to interfere. ~"Resist all the urges.... that make you want to go out and kill." ~ Chel.

maybe thats why he and i are close, plus hes there full time, hes older and a really great kid. his mom basically abandoned him after the divorce so its prob nice for him too to have a female figure take an interest in him

in the life of a step parent are monumental ones. CHerish them all and when the bad times come, look back at those and know how the Skids truly feel when the anger and emotions are not involved. I started off as "daddy's girlfriend", then moved up to "Amy", then "stepmom" and I am now officially "the greatest mommy in the whole wide world". Every moment makes a difference. I am happy you had one of those moments!
