I'm excited so I want to share with you guys
I'm the only one on this site right now. Thanks to an incurable state of insomnia. Something has to give. So I've been writing away, commenting etc. and really connecting to you all from yesterday's conversations. Usually I blog about my troubles and I know we do love to hear positive things.
I'm pretty excited right now and it has nothing to do with being a step parent or having step children, I just want to share. Okay with you????
First, we have been under some financial stress, that is why I'm back to work full time and don't post as much anymore. But, we just signed a contract to sell our house, which couldn't come at a better time. This will give us enough money to close on the house we are building that should be ready (hopefully) by Christmas. I thought we were going to lose it. So yippee!!!!!!
Second, since I'm back to work, we needed daycare which is REALLY hard to find. Several places were recommended to me but they had waiting lists. But, we just found this new preschool that opened recently. It is just a few miles from our new house and it is fabulous. They had one spot left for the 2 year old room. Here's the best part. It's a trilingual school. This year is a total Spanish immersion. Next year they introduce English and French. She has to wear a little uniform. Can you believe it. It is a very European education and I love it. I went to high school overseas in England so this is right up my alley, except I can't speak any other languages fluently. I want her to though.
Third, I love being back to work. I feel happier to have my own life again. It is hard to commute etc, but I'm feeling myself again.
So thanks for listening. Hope you have a great day too!

Congratulations!
We went through selling my old house while I was pregnant and it didn't sell til after I had the baby. The market in my neighborhood was super solid until the month or two before we were ready to list my house! I can't believe how picky buyers are now! Unless you have every single update and tiny detail staged they aren't buyin'! I had to drastically reduce my price and pay closing.
I guess what I'm saying is- CONGRATS on selling something in this tough market!
And I'm jealous of your preschool. I wouldn't find anything here. My BD is going to go to a MRDD preschool where my husband works. She's not MR, but they have a typical peer program where two non-disabled kids attend per classroom. This helps the teachers gauge the progress of the disabled kids, and helps the disabled kids strive a little more. But the benefit to my child? Well, my two sons both went through (their dad works there) and they have no prejudice against race or disabilities. So...if I can't have her learning different languages, then at least she can learn tolerance
Wonderful news!
Peace, love, and red wine
The winds are finally changing....
