Breaking my OCD habit...
So this is tied in with my OCD and I want to break this habit. My stepdaughter (9) does beauty pageants and has been for a few years now. She got a new dress at almost every pageant and I have felt the need to take a picture with her. She has a pageant this weekend, but is wearing the same dress she wore a couple of months ago. I feel like every time she has a pageant, that I have to take a picture with her. We all go to her pageant (her mom, step dad, my husband (her dad) and me). Her mom takes pictures of her as well, but not with her and only posts pictures of her. I guess I feel like I have to post pictures with her and post them instead of just pictures of her if that makes sense. Anyway, this is keeping me from enjoying her events because I always feel anxious as to when I can get a picture with her. I want to break this habit. I know that I don't have to get a picture with her at every event. Do y'all have any advice on how I can break this habit? Would I be a bad step mother for not taking pictures all the time since her mother does? I'm trying to wean myself from not posting so much on social media.

Let your battery die so you can't take pictures. Charge it in the car on the way home.

NO. You are not SD's mother. This is another example of you trying to compete with the biological mother. Just STOP.
For the record, I have OCD. This is not an assumption; I was diagnosed by a professional. Have you been professionally diagnosed as having OCD? If not - and I say this sincerely - make an appointment with a therapist ASAP. You need professional help that STalk members are not qualified to give you.
100% THIS ^^^^^^
I doubt she will reply or take any of the advice, if these are even real posts. I doubt they are. Hey OP can we get an update if you've sought therapy? That really should be your main concern and worry at this point. "Should I seek therapy for my many unhealthy thoughts and habits? Will it make me a better step mom?" YES!!!!! IT WILL!!
Hi I am replying back to you.
Hi I am replying back to you. I have actually made an appointment for therapy. It took a lot for me to make one because I am nervous to seek therapy.

Yes I have recently made an appointment with a therapist. I don't know why, but it makes me feel better when I take a picture with her.
You might feel better because
You might feel better because it keeps you neck-and-neck in your competition with BM. Maybe it makes you feel like part of the family. This is why you need to talk to a professional. I'm so glad you made an appointment and hope you will work with the therapist to get to the root of your issues to resolve them.
Therapy, OP. All the therapy.
